  • Excludes Fuel

    deal breaker…

    • that doesn't make sense. there has never been a deal to get a discount on fuel by buying fuel. So what you mean is that its a deal breaker to buy fuel?
I'm going to make a lot of enemies from the jv lovers out there but i don't care. I don;t need anyone to legitimise my online personality because I have a life.

      • It was a joke

        • what, like when he said:

          the jv lovers out there

I am not sure about elsewhere, but from the following data, we can save 10c on LPG by just NOT going to coles express. (http://www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au/)

79.9 LPG Caltex Caltex StarShop Livingston 110 Ranford Rd CANNING VALE
79.9 LPG Caltex Caltex StarMart Canning Vale Cnr Ranford & Wilfred Rds CANNING VALE
79.9 LPG Caltex Woolworths Caltex Woolworths Canning Vale Cnr Amherst & Nicholson Rds
79.9 LPG Coles Express Coles Express Canning Vale 280 Bannister Rd CANNING VALE
89.9 LPG Coles Express Coles Express Bull Creek Cnr Leichardt St & Benningfield Rd BULL CREEK

Who uses LPG anymore? Aside from taxi drivers.

    • Um, you list a Coles Express at 79.9. And there are Caltex's in both 79.9 and 89.9 brackets. Based on your list it's only BP you should avoid.

      • +1

I list down all in that area (I do not want to edit the list just to make my point, it should reflect the fact other than fake the argument). In majority, Coles and BP are more expensive than others.

        • +2

Actually you point to the real issue. Its LOCATION that determines the price.

eg Canningvale is cheaper than Bull creek, Riverton etc

        • @RockyRaccoon: 100% RR. It's all about location - brand has nothing to do with it. It's not just town location either, but proximity to other stations and line-of-sight competitors etc that bring prices down.

    • My local caltex sells LPG for 71.9 cents prior to wollies and in store purchase discount.

  • I found 3 on the main link… Quaifying, Qualifyinf, recevied

And one in your post… ING Direct customers, while your there :)

  • Does this qualify for those 4 weeks of shopping deals?

Answered my own Question: I read T&Cs of that 4 weeks special: excludes Coles Express and Coles Online

    • Nope that's in Coles only.

  • +1

I thought Coles and Wollies couldn't do this kind of discount anymore. Weren't they being stopped by the AAAC?

    • I thought Coles and Wollies couldn't do this kind of discount anymore.

That is only for cross selling between stores…

The can give you $5 per litre off for in-store purchases if they want…

      • +2

Ah, thank you for clearing that up.

Hang on… did I just thank the most pedantic and sarcastic person on Ozbargain?

Hmmmm… I am going back to analyse your reply now. I suddenly feel uncomfortable.

    • They can from items sold through Coles Express service stations.

But they can't give you a 10c discount after shopping at a Coles supermarket.

      Edit: Here's another spelling mistake

I thought Coles and Wollies :P

      • +2

Another spelling mistake? I only made one. I'm a Wollie (pronounced Wally).

      • +1

Yes, the ACCC apparently differentiates between supermarket items sold at supermarkets and at servos, even if they're the same items at the same price. My guess is that this is only permitted because fewer items are available and less people take up the offer. Decent discount IF you take the whole 150l AND you need the items AND their fuel price is competitive. Anecdotally I can't see that Coles and Woolworths have done anything to help competition in the fuel market.

    $20 of stuff at a garage…
we buy our milk at caltex to get an extra 4cents on the 4cents but would never end up with $20 of items.
Isnt a Coles express near us anyway.

    • +3

Isnt a Coles express near us anyway.

      Move house ?

  • They used to have the 24pk of Quilton toilet rolls for $10, same price as Coles, and the 24 x 600ml Coles brand water bottles for $8, same price as Coles, but I don't see those on the list anymore….will struggle to get to $20 spend without those.

  • Small Coffee $0.80

    I thought $1 7-11 coffee is bad.
Is 80c Coles Express Coffee drinkable?

  • ING Direct customers, while you're there use their ATM to get cash out (fee free) and receive a free voucher

    Infinite vouchers?
    1. Find a Coles Express that is close to a post office.
    2. Withdraw from Coles Express ATM
    3. Get voucher
    4. Go to post office to deposit the money
    5. goto step 2

    • Interesting idea :) I'm guessing the vouchers aren't that exciting at the moment though, there have been a few good ones in the past though:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119606
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/110626

Still not something you'd need heaps of.

I did wonder if you could do a balance enquiry, as that gives a voucher as well, but I wasn't sure if ING rebates a balance enquiry or only withdrawals.

      • Okay I checked and ING Direct will refund balance enquiry fees as well:

"We will refund the balance the enquiry fee as well as withdrawals. This is as long as you deposit $1000 in to your account the calendar month before."

    Thank you OP.

I bought 2 lots of nappies, got the discount then took the nappies to Coles for a refund. Worked a treat.

I'm just sorry you got a nonsensical comment as the first reply to your post. I guess that happens when people spend all their time on the internet trawling for internet props
