I'd be happy to know how fast & reliable various VPN's are, in our market, as well as costs, incl data costs.

Let's crowd-source data for a cost-performance table, with latest deals / typical costs & performance parameters.

    • Great idea. Also, great attitude - wish we had more people like you at my workplace!

    • Good idea. I have used Ghostpath for a few months now. They have servers in Melb/Syd/Bris and isn't noticeably slower unless you are downloading at > 1mb/s.

I signed up to them a few days ago. Have only been able to get two locations working with OpenVPN. Waiting for a response from my ticket.

Are any other users encountering trouble? From other forums I have found they have certainly had issues previously. This makes me think the issue is their end(s) rather than mine.

    • Signed up during the previous deal, I am always having connection issues (usually takes 2-3 attempts to connect).

    • I've also been having issues connecting with openVPN.
It took them a little under a month to reply to my support ticket, but here it is.

      Hi there,

We've had some issues with some of our locations recently, but a full check across all locations is currently taking place to ensure that all locations are up and running as usual. A full list of available locations will be sent out by email shortly - please refer to this list to ensure that you can connect again, using the correct location files or IP's. If you have any further issues, please reply here in the meantime.

      Regards,
      VPN.sh support

      • So why did you give this a positive vote?

    • I decided to sign up for a CyberGhost account. $20/year using link from sharewareonsale.com

It just works, more than I can say for vpn.sh.

    • Yeap 10/08/2014 - 10/08/2014 (Expires Today)> albeit unfortunate timing for '.sh.. cyberghoul 'in first,' basically works and just right with my balancing a deep usenet sub, till I make the next jump.

I've just left them for another company. Locations just constantly failing. FYI Canada2 location always seemed to work for me.

  • Nice try GCSB.

  • Beware, customer service is not great

  • What services do you use the VPN for? I know netflix and BBC but what else?

    • …it will be lag and buffering city if you use them. Ended up getting a Ghostpath account and no issues whatsoever.

  • thats not a lot of GB if youre using a vpn for downloading..

I am confused - last time this deal was mentioned complaints about the bad quality of the service and support (also experienced by me) were mentioned and negs were given - this time all is forgiven ?!?!?

There was a period of over a month where I couldn't connect to anything and the support ticket related to this was more than a month of waiting only to be basically told "we are working on it".

Even £1 / year is a waste of money if it doesn't work properly :-(

      I wasted £5.50 on it…sigh

Not forgotten yet. Those who go ahead, just beware. You might waste £1 and time try to follow up.

I also noticed that IVI gave a negative vote on previous deal. Now IVI posted this deal. IVI, can you enlighten us what has change since then?

After having many connection problems with both this VPN deal and the Dallas Dedicated IP deal, I would not use them again.

I was willing to cut them some slack but I still can not connect to my dedicated IP from the last deal.

I have since moved to using my own private VPS in Las Vegas and setting up a VPN on it.

Very easy to do, heaps of bandwidth with great speeds and I do not have to wait months for a fix or to get a reply to support tickets.

    • The US is not the greatest for respecting privacy though.
We here in Oz are not far behind and catching up.
      I think I'd prefer a non US VPN .

      • True, and just as easy to set up your own VPS in another country and use it as a VPN if it really worries you to use a US based one.

My main use is for Netflix and it more than meets that need, as well as giving me tens of gigs of storage space.

Who did you go with for the VPS?
