I just wanted to point out that there is a 10% off for over $150 spent at Shopping Express going on as well. If you go to the checkout, this is what comes up:

    Discounts Applied
    10%Off-08082014 Spend over $150 Remove Coupon 10%Off-08082014 -$19.90
    FreeShipping-08082014 Remove Coupon FreeShipping-08082014 -$10.45
    Discount Total -$30.35
    GST Inc. $16.28
    Shopping Cart Total $179.10

The 10% off discount is applied automatically and the final price is $179.10. You may be able to price beat at Officeworks with this price for $170.15.

    • wow very good price !

    • +2

Also, the reason why I say "may" is because this is in the grey area of Officeworks' price match policy.

Normally, Officeworks would only accept the listed price and not conditional price (in this case, spend over $150 to get 10% off). However, seeing that the offer is automatically fulfilling (ie. you didn't have to buy any other items to get that price) and the final checkout price comes down to that, then it should be okay. I would definitely say it's more likely to be okay than not okay. If you have any trouble getting it for that price, then you would probably have to structure your argument like that.

Source: Worked at Officeworks before. I would honour it.

      • No Joy at hunter street :/

        Thanks anyway

    • champion :)

  • DAMN that's an awesome price for this bit of kit, for some strange reason I cant connect to mine with my main PC, unless i'm outside the network. but for other devices it seems to work ok… weird.

    • Are you running DD-WRT or stock firmware?

      • Stock…

  • OP, which Officeworks did you go to?

  • Has anyone tried the DDWRT on it ?

  • Very good price!

Was thinking about getting the ASUS RT-AC68U in preparation when NBN is rolled out in my street.

    • +1 any upcoming deals on the ASUS RT-AC68U?

      • I'd jump on for a ASUS RT-AC68U deal too

  • Officeworks just priced match, brought it for $170.14

    • Please upload your receipt if you can…

      • You don't need a receipt to price beat.

    • how did you guys show the price to be matched? on the checkout page of shoppingexpress with the discounted amount?

      • +1

I showed him and got denied :/

  • +3

+1 for looking like a stealth bomber or Star Wars EP7 A-Wing

  • Does this support wireless extension? I want to use it as a range extender without cable.

  • +5

It's $169.99 at Mwave (pickup available in NSW) http://www.mwave.com.au/product/netgear-r7000-nighthawk-ac19…

    • +5

Actually, this might be a even better deal. You can also pick it up for free so there's no shipping costs. After price beat, it's $161.49 at Officeworks.

    • Gonna try this at Ow laterrr
      Woohoo

    • no more available :(

      • Wow it's been updated to $225.99.

        • +1

          Wtf! Soo dodgey

    • thanks davidswan

price matched it at OW Glebe for $161.49 :D really needed a new one

      Edit: also thanks OP :P

Please buy it from ShoppingExpress and give the rep more reason to have deals like this. how often do officework reps come on here and have deals fro ozbargain? its only $9 more

    • +2

      Agreed, bought from SE.

    • +1

Shopping Express would get my $$$ if they had better after sales customer service.

      • I'm in the same boat. I've been mostly happy with SE but based on previous experience more confident that if there was an issue with the product officeworks would refund..

  • Anyone know if this supports VDSL?

    • Router, not MODEM/router. You'll need a separate xDSL modem.

  • Winner, winner .. chicken dinner!! Thanks OP. ;)

  • I'm getting these products all mixed up now, if I want to connect to ADSL, do I buy one of these or is this a router with dualband wifi only?

    • Router only. You will also need a modem

      • Is the need for one of these then because the wifi performance from a standard modem is not as good?

Needing a modem atm, is there a great one around $100-$150?

        • +1

Tp-Link WD8980 is good value in this bracket. Not AC, though.

        • mainly for the AC, you can do serious streaming with AC.

As for the modem - Billion 7800N (7800NL if you don't need gigabit). You can tinker with the SNR to make your internet connection faster albeit less stable.

        • @krisspy: 7800NL has a massive NAT table too… over 8000.

        • @RichardWise: Do any of Modems have large Tables for port forwarding? My tplink 8970 has i think a max of 22 before i runout.

  • I have a netgear 3100 cable modem/router which seems to have recently lost a lot of range. Forums, etc suggest disabling NAT and connecting another router. Would this be the best thing to do that with? If I hooked up a 10m CAT5e cable between the 2, I could have this in a better position; would there be any loss in quality of signal doing this?

  • +1

$169.99 at mwave .. Limited 20 units only

    • with free shipping :)

      • +1

How do you get free shipping at mwave? Comes to $182 for me as charge $9 shipping & $3 for paypal (even though its a paypal only deal!!)

  • Noob question. If I purchase this to complement my current B\N\G modem\router do I need to disable the wifi on the modem\router?

    • No, but it's likely to cause interference at the very least. It could also cause confusion as then you'd need to assign the various computers to the various SSIDs and then they'll idly switch between them based on signal strength. I'd disable it but I don't think it's essential

  • None left on shelf @ Pitt St. Officeworks

    • +1

Try hunter st. They had 2 left on the shelf about 20mins ago

      • They didn't match for me :/

  • very good price for me

  • How is the wireless distance for this in the 2.4ghz/5ghz bands when there is barely any interference? My Billion modem/router had terrible range even under those conditions so I'm curious.

  • Just tried officeworks they wouldn't match it as they said the extra 10% is a coupon on, they were happy to match at $199.

    • which OW you called ?

      • Bourke Street, Melb

        • Here in WA they gave me. Try going in store.

  • Upon looking at this deal, I contacted my brother on my Ozbargain'd LG Optimus G and directed him to Officeworks QV - Melbourne.

Officeworks QV had no fuss, purchased for $170.14

Thanks OP for yet another impulse buy! <3

  • +1

Just picked one up from office works for $161 smoothest and nicest transaction ever, price matched from mwave thanks for the bargain

    • i can second this too..picked up from officeworks werribee

  • Can anyone tell me if you can limit speeds to certain IP addresses with these routers? Our TP-Link one could but not our Billion one.
    Thanks.

  • I was tempted to get this, but I don't see any real need for it at the moment.

    • Same, especially when all I need is a wireless access point. I don't even have any ac clients yet.

    • I think that was a limited offer and only a number of units were available at that price. I'm guessing they've now exhausted those units and therefore back to original price.

  • Just bought one from Punchbowl NsW OfficeWorks for $170.14 :) over 10more in stock on shelf
Theres a newer model #8000 AC3200 TRIBAND! Next to this model! Wow!!! $399 Though ;(

    • Did they need to check on their computer for the price or did you just show them on your smartphone?

      • I show them on phone and they checked it.
The sales guy at technology name "MARK" talk to him if u want the price beat.

    • Yeah…I went to Officeworks to pick up the 7000…they were out of stock, so I got the 8000. It's pretty nice. They will pricematch it down as everybody else seems to be selling it for $349.

  • This better than a ASUS RT-AC66U????

  • Edit: nvm

  • Is this the best wireless router at this price point?

  • what modem do you use, if you are planning to use this?

  • Price beaten at office works!

  • Looks to be out of stock now

  • Couldn't purchase.

"Sorry. We don't have enough 'R7000-100AUS' in stock to fulfill your order."

  • OfficeWorks have matched it for me, too, at $170.

    Great buy! Thanks, op!

  • Can anyone recommend a decent & cheap 802.11ac pci-e adaptor for pc? (I'm guessing a usb 2.0 adaptor would be too slow to handle ac speeds right?)

  • I have an old Netcomm NB9W which has been faithful, but the wifi is either a bit flakey lately or our Macbook Air has crappy reception.

The NB9W has VoIP, which we use.

    1. Would this router's wifi be a significant improvement over my current wifi? I presume so, as the Air supports wifi ac - would that be useful? Or is ac susceptible to dropouts/poor range due to the bandwidth? (Lack of technical networking knowledge really showing here)

    2. If I bridged the NB9W to this one, would the VoIP still work?

    3. Is bridging the modem to this router a viable solution to our poor wifi? Or should I just get a replacement modem/router/VoIP all-in-one? If so, any recommendations?

Went to OW to buy R7000, price match with mwave, but could not be honoured as " no stock" at mway. Ending up buy the lastest R8000, priced matched with mwave $349, and plus 5% less. Could not complaint. :) . For future-proof :D

    • +1

Wow that's a hefty sum you were willing to pay for only an improvement in wifi speed & better CPU. All the other features are pretty standard & available in lower models (GbE LAN/WAN, USB2/3 etc.).

Personally I will wait till they drop in price as I currently only have 1x AC wifi client, but running on 5Ghz N which will suffice for now.

You could get 2x R7000 for the price of a R8000 & still have cash left to pocket. Other than that I have to say the R8000 is a beast, overkill IMHO.

      • +1

Until you start running a few instances of HD Home Run…and then you will love the 3.2GHz bandwidth and the 6 separate network nodes.

        • Yeah seems the only reason to upgrade from a B/G/N router to an AC router is if you have a lot of high bandwidth devices & need the extensive signal range.

Alternatively you could go the EoP+router on each end of the network area you wish to cover.

        • Having two R7000 at either end of the house would give you a lot more real bandwidth than one R8000.

  • I just got my r7000 for 161$, I showed the lady at the counter the shopping express price and she told me that it is on sale and they wont match thing on sale,I then showed here this page and told her that people are buying from yr store for 170$, I dont know if she felt guilty or woteva she just gave it to me for 160$ lol.SCORE!!

  • Anyone needs one, if having issue getting it from SE/OW, buzz me , I have one sitting me. Got 2 nos to cover my whole double story house and backyard/garden, frontyard and garage, but guess what even 1 is enough for an area around 1000 sq.m

So buzz me here, otherwise will just return it. Pick up from Melbourne CBD or western suburbs.

  • More stock back up at shopping express

  • +1

I hope the Rep is planing on having another special of the R7000 given it ran out of stock before the deal finished. Looks like there is a lot of demand for the router.

    • Well it is top of the line in terms of dual-band routers until AC2400 ones are out. Geeks want the best even if they can't utilise the features. Truth be told, it will future proof your network for a good 3-4yrs until the next standard is out.

      • Well not really. Once the Wireless AC standard has been finalized you will have a whole bunch of new router coming out claiming a whole lot of reasons why its better and geeks like us will want the newer version.
