Usenet Blocks on Sale at NewsgroupDirect 2 TB for $60

50

Seems like a good deal on usenet blocks. 2 TB block is $60 (regular $200) while the 500 GB block is $25 (reg $60).

  • Anyone tried these guys? Looks like manual takedowns which is handy.

    • Highwinds reseller so it processes DMCA takedowns quickly. Other than that, a reliable provider.

    • IMO they kinda suck. I've had a block account for more than a year now which I hardly use because anything remotely popular is taken down almost immediately.

      • +1

Using that logic they all suck then…

    • NGD are not the best provider by any means, they apply DMCA take downs straight away. I use them as my primary, with 1TB Astra block account as back up and have had no issues.
If you use something like Sickbeard/NZBdrone and Couchpotato, or DOGnzb’s watchlist, then you can get things straight away anyway and beat take downs.

  • Just signed up, but god they make it hard to find the server details.

  • DON'T PAY THEM WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD, their server was hacked and my credit card details was stolen (http://blog.newsgroupdirect.com/2014/07/09/important-newsgro…). My card was skimmed nearly $500, good thing I saw my cc transactions one day after it happens so I can alert the bank and have my cc acc closed. Happens about 1-2 months ago, bought my blocks about 4-5 month ago.

    • luckily my details seem to have been missed, i think they sent out some compensation for the breach, checked my account and saw that i had an extra 500gb in my block account. Don't have auto top up set up which may have been a saving grace

      • someone unauthorized was able to gain access to our systems between May 1, 2014 and July 8, 2014 (tentative dates). We believe that only new accounts created during this time period are affected. If you paid with Worldpay then you are unaffected.

You're probably not in the impacted group.

    • That was unfortunate, but how many time you see firms compensating you for that?
NGD did that and they were actively communicating with the customers. Saw the CEO in touch with people on reddit. Was pleasantly surprised!
