  • Coles also has a similar product this week

  • You would be better off with a sj4000 camera. Much better video quality for a small cost more.

    • Please advise where we can get the sj4000 locally for not much more (I found one on ebay for almost $80; I wouldn't call $30 not much more) :)

I got mine from DX.com for $90 using a $5 off code. I would call $30-40 not much more when spending $50 would be a waste of money because the video quality is poor and unwatchable. Also the SJ4000 works with gopro mounts.

        • You know you can always return it at Aldi.

  • It looks like the VIVITAR DVR 785HD.

  • $39 at Kmart for what looks like a nearly identical product.

  • Do they have the 60 day returns policy on this?

  • Could it be used as a car dvr?

    • You can get a car dash-cam with the same (bad) image quality for $20-ish. (good enough to show who is at fault in an accident though.)

The no-pro does not record while charging, according to one comment.

  • So should we go for the Aldi one or the Coles one?

    • well i took the plunge on the Coles one for the sake of the exercise.

Coles Cam is F1.05 / f4.1mm Aldi F3.1 / f2.7mm so supposed spec wise the aldi one has a wider apperture.

Coles Cam actually records 720p variables FPS not fixed….not sure if this is std amongst action cams.

Under low light / fluro its performance is a bit poor…..grainy and dark. Hard to tell against Aldi cam because the preview on the website is done in daylight. Will try tomorrow when the sun is out :)

      • i should add the camera for video is 1.3MP for stills its 5MP

      • +1

Coles Cam is F1.05 vs Aldi F3.1

So Coles one has wider aperture.
