    • are video games included?

      • The Target Toy Sale catalogue (where this offer is from) has 5 pages dedicated to video games so I'm assuming that means video games fall under the toys category.

        • My local Target refused to honor the $10 gift card or even price match the Adventure Pack / Battle Pack.

However, its worth having a look at my topic, for Skylanders figurines ($4.75 each): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153895

  • Might want to put it excludes, clearance lines, Promotions and online retailers :)

  • Where are the T&Cs for this?

    • +1

      a bit blurry… but here it is…

It needs to be a printed advertisment and not online. You need to bring it instore for the price match.

    • give you a $10 Target gift card if you find any same item advertised cheaper.

where does it mention the $10 gift card ???

  • Chances of them price matching dicksmiths $49 last of us preorder?

    What counts as a 'promotion'?

A sale price in another stores yearly toy sale clearance would technically be a promotion wouldn't it?

    • +1

Yes it's unclear and if competitor's printed sale prices are excluded that defeats the purpose of target's offer IMO and makes target's offer misleading. Worth confirming and reporting to fair trading if target are unreasonable.

    • At Big W, a promotion is considered an item that is price reduced, say, like a weekly deal or a catalogue item. Pretty much an item with a ticket that has a was/now price

  • Big W have the Disney Infinity starter kit for $44, Target $49 in this sale. Im going to bring it to their attention today.

I've asked Target a couple of times in the past if they could price match a video game and both times they've said, "We only price match toys." Video games are classified as entertainment by Target, not toys (despite the video games being advertised in this toys catalogue).

Though still worth asking just encase!

  • Not sure if you can print an ad from online (print screen?)…

Here's the Darth Vader bargin https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153839

Maybe print this HN ad http://www.harveynorman.com.au/star-wars-darth-vader-figure.… to get $10 voucher?

Edit: Just re read jv's post, he states it's not online, but I interpret that it's not online retailers. HN is not just an online retailer so could be worth a try?

  • Are electronics and consoles classified as 'Toys'?

    • As far as I've been told, no.

  • Very misleading~ if they advertise toy sales in the past and have all these items in it then they should be considered as toys. They should simply write an exclusions list.

Not sure how you get evidence, but The Reject Shop is selling Hot wheels cars for $2.
I cannot find a thing online, but there was a previous facebook comment about it :
    https://www.facebook.com/rejectshop/photos/a.120699751293762…

But at Target, Hot Wheels cars are going for $2.25? I think.
    Might be an easy win.

    • This has promise, but according to the Target catalogue, it needs to be an 'Advertised' price - so one that's in a catalogue or similar physical form. Can anyone find an advertisement for this deal?

    • Ok, who wants to give this a go.

Target are selling hot wheels for $2.50

Now here is Toys R us selling hot wheels cars for $2.29
      http://www.toysrus.com.au/hot-wheels/hot-wheels-basic-cars-a…

So this seems the cheapest way to score the Price Match + $10 Voucher.

    any toy

Find a cheap $2 toy in a catalog from a store that has it for $1.98.

Make them price match it by 2 cent.

    Get a $10 gift card.

    Repeat :D

ok, when you find one, be sure to let us know.

Exactly - The place is full of keyboard warriors - we need a HERO….

        • Keyboard warrior?

Heck I only see 2 aggressive comments in this comment chain and it's not me.

If I knew I was going to be greeted with this much animosity I would have bothered to check how much they charged at hot wheels toys when I was in the store. Oh well such is life.

Obviously it's pointless anyway because anything they find out about they'll just update their prices. eg. Disney infinity beating big W's price instead of being the price in their own catalog.

You guys sure know how to suck the fun out of things.

edit: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153928#comment-2136094 seems like Mark had the same idea and found it. Enjoy.

@natsumezoku: just got them to matched reject shop's $2.00 hotwheels (by showing RJS pricing photo on my mobile) and got the $10 gift card..used it for the hotwheels gift set of 9 pcs for $13.00..total damage $2+$13-$10=$5 for 10 cars..thanks to OP and you

        • @trunx168: Champion

        • @ubuy: the receipt of the $2.00 car doesn't show the $10 gift card (it was processed separately). so we can always return it for a full refund and keep the gift card. not everyday we get a free $10 gift card, aye? lol
this one i'll keep the $2.00 car cos it's nice and rare (fast fish) :)

          @trunx168:

          Lol top show.

But I think to be fair _Mark above me probably was the one that came up with the idea. I probably just thought it was my own right after reading his seeing that I posted in the early hours of the morning.

  • I've been to 3 targets and they all said the items needed to be in a catalogue

    • Yeah I think trunx168 got lucky at his store. This loophole would've been closed quick smart I reckon.

      • i will try with other target tonight and report back soon. yesterday was in roseland shopping centre. i think it's hard for them to avoid this. so many products have a higher price than other shops. also toys r us is having a sale too.

so went to target rhodes just now. went to the hotwheels aisle but there is no single pack. asked the staff and he said out of stock. i thought i'm going back empty-handed, until i saw the single pack on my way out near check out. picked the arachnorod model and showed the last night photo to the staff. no issue matching the price. but when i asked for the $10 gift card, he called the manager. then manager called her supervisor. then she told me it has to be on online/catalogue because the photo could be from long time ago (expired). i showed her the time stamp and she finally approved it. confirmed they can't scan the gift card on the same invoice. so we can always return the $2 purchase later.
score is 2-0 now. just need to get 2 more gift card to buy the race track, lol

Good effort trunx168! Sounds like a lot of effort for $10 though, Target make you earn it…

      • nah, i went there during lunch time and only took me 15 mins.
i went to hurstville on sat, no single pack hot wheels anywhere in the store, fail.
went to eastgarden on sun. easy $10 gift card. (third one)
so i returned the gift pack of 9 and got a store credit, then bought the $44 motorized mega garage for 14 bux.
now i'm done, i swear. lol

  • So which thing from the reject shop were you showing for the hot wheels? The facebook post?

    • +1

shelf's price tag photo on my mobile. 3x $10 gift cards from roselands, rhodes and eastgarden.
it will be a lot easier if you buy 1 from reject shop and show them the receipt. u can always return it to reject shop later for a refund.

      • But I thought it was only prices in the catalogue? I do trust you btw though

        • +1

yeah..that's what I thought too..that's why the managers has to check with their supervisor when i showed them the photo..better buy one from reject shop and show them the receipt..less hassles..good luck!

  • Had son venture in today to collect an advertised item, Trackmaster (Thomas) Castle Quest $89 (excellent price for this) and found an automatic 10% was deducted from that at the checkout shown as "874Promo Disc" So only paid $80.10; very happy! No idea why or wherefore … Did show our Flybuys card though.
