Hallensteins Men's Suits $135 (+Shirt +Tie) + Free Shipping + Further 25% off (Code = $101.25)

Hi there,

Was having a look at Hallensteins because I just destroyed a suit, not sure what I was thinking (DO NOT IRON SUITS!)

Hallensteins always offers free shipping over $50 and generally have good deals, suits among some other things (check their homepage) - 2 x Denim Chinos - $90, Sweats 1/2 price, Okit Tee's 2 for $27… etc. Though I'm just interested in the $135 "The Suits Sale".

Found an additional 25% off code to bring the suits down to $101.45 (Thank you Porleng https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/150923), these also come with your choice of free Shirt + Tie. I find their quality is not "Hugo Boss", but it would be equivalent of stores like Man to Man. Hope this helps someone, job interviews, mid-level office jobs etc.! :)

PS: Also as a note only - through my last order ~6 months ago it was sent within 48 hours on express, and I got a Thank You card and a chocolate bar, some honeycomb yum-ness. Will let you know when this arrives! Also not sure on expiry so will put Saturday - Thanks!

  • Thats a pretty sweet deal!

I bought one of their Dapper Dress coats, and apart from it smelling horrible, the arm holes are very low. Make sure you check that you can move your arms around while wearing the suit, because it seems like even their small sizes are made for people with huge arms (which inhibits degree of freedom).

I just returned one today. It felt and smelt like it was made for gorillas. They should make these coats for people with normal length arms.

It's cost cutting. If you look closely at most Hallensteins stuff, the stitching is rubbish and asymmetrical, the fit is inconsistent between any two identical items, the fabric wears quickly, their coats are made for the lowest common denominator and have poor fit (and smell like what I suspect is formaldehyde), they're sometimes soiled or stained (seriously, this should be easy to spot with QC), and their support don't seem to relay feedback to get these problems fixed.

The quality control is near non existent. It all seems like a 'sweet deal' until you realise that their RRPs are total bogus. I don't think anything they sell outside their merino jumpers is worth purchasing, and even they have QC issues. Apparently XS means 'any arbitrary size below S'.

These are polyester suits so really avoid them and pay a bit more to get a woollen one unless you want to look like a used car salesman. You get what you pay for so be warned.
