what's the bluetooth range like?
About 10-15 meters. Anything after that it breaks up a bit. Not that you know my house, but it will work in my bedroom and it still works if I carry my phone downstairs and into the kitchen. Our walls aren't brick (in case that makes a difference).
The sound it great. Ideally it needs to have its back facing the wall to make better bass.
Power usage is also really good.

Much rather a TDK boombox. These are crappy smaller speakers in these Bose and Logitech ones

I have the boombox and this, boombox does sound better, but I wouldn't take it to 90% of the places I take this. These sound the best in their class IMO.
