I wonder how this camera compares to the $149 Kodak M1093 IS from Aldi.

There's no optical Image Stabilisation on this
and Memory Stick Duo / Pro Duo is more expensive than the more common
    SD/SDHC

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing First Sony Cybershot, May 6, 2009
By High Standards (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
I unfortunately agree with the other reviews. My friends had this brand so I purchased this camera as a preorder. It suffers from the following problems:
    1) Excessive noise in low light (grainy pics)
    2) No video zoom
    3) Slow response time. It does not take pics quickly and recover well.
    4) Poor focus.
    5) In playback, it takes a second for each and every pic to focus from initial graininess.

I wish I could still return this item but alas, 30 days have passed and I threw out the box!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Sony Product, April 3, 2009
By Aman Datta "Aman Datta" (NJ) - See all my reviews
I am one of those typical Sony loyalist but I am very disappointed by this camera. The noise on most photos was terrible especially in lower light. Close up photos in bright sunshine was fine but I could not get a decent photo (with Flash). Surprisingly, I had an issue with the Flash too since its coverage was very less and did not light up the subject(s) well or even uniformly.

It's a great price but poor quality. I am returning this product for another camera.

Don't be fooled by the number of megapixels. I have a 5 year old 3.2 megapixel olympus camera that craps all over a lot of the budget high resolution cameras like these. I don't know about this camera however but I'm just saying.

If you want an amazing 10 megapixel camera though, get the canon ixus 85is which uses SD cards and can be found online for around the $250 mark. I got a new one on eBay for $240 before and it is a brilliant camera. Starts up in about 1 second and takes excellent photos and videos.
