the cpu is just sooo slow, for the spec its fairly common to find this price.

    • Yes, it is like old pentium 4 processor . Even can't play TPG IPTV HD channel well .

  • Is it similar to this one? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/142113

They say the other one is slow.

    • Yeah, CPU too slow, even for W8. I would personally never get a Windows tablet or laptop/ultrabook with a processor with a PassMark score below 1500, preferably above 2000 and 4 Gig of ram if screen is 13" or larger ( because I have up to 10 or more tabs open ).

I'm sure Android will absolutely fly on it, and it isn't hard to dual boot Android and Windows either. Since the screen is touch enabled, it will be suitable for Android.

The actual bottleneck with this machine is the limited RAM and slow mechanical drive. Up the RAM to 4GB Not upgradable sorry and put in a cheap SSD, and it'll perform much quicker .

    • extremely stupid thats its not upgradeable 2gb isnt very much at all
Mobile phones have more then that nowdays, sure its different ram but still more then 2gb.

      • Assuming it's 32bit, it won't accept anything more than 4GB anyways.

        • I think it's 3.6, but that is almost double and I find that does makes all the difference for everyday use. A SSD would give it a good boost. These netbooks are really only good for a light traveller with long battery life. For your main machine that you will mainly use on a wall plug, save/spend a bit more to get performer. Do a PassMark score check on the CPU, that's a decent gage of how it will perform.

    • Is there an Android written for the A4 CPU or will any x86 build do?

  • With a 320GB hard drive you'll have plenty of room for loads of movies, games and photos.

i could fill that atleast 6 times over. lol

not everyone has a large porn collection.

      • +3

Thats not my porn thats in a serparate 4tb external hard drive.

        • aint you ever heard of streaming

        • Streaming eh? Never heard of that porn site, must be a new one.

        • porn streams tend to be pretty low quality.

I had one and it's painfully slow even on a new installation/out of the box OS.

Side by side CPU and Memory benchmark of the ASUS T100TA versus the HP Touchsmart 10". Both systems have 2GB of RAM.

As you can expect the quad core Silvermont totally demolishes the AMD A4. So yeah, I think it may be best to skip this 'netbook' and go for the ASUS instead, and if you're looking for something even cheaper you could try the $300 USD Chinese-made Windows 8 tablets like the Cube U100GT which runs a very similar Atom Z3740D chip.

Esp after seeing $500 macbook air, won't get excited about this.

Apparently, this will be in the fisher price isle.

  • Good price, but the touchscreen laptops sometimes aren't together properly and will show some vertical lines on the screen after a while. This is alright as it will be covered under warranty, and is usually due to a loose ribbon cable. Sometimes you will come across some models that have a faulty screen. I'm not sure if the warranty will replace it with a different screen type or the same one.

Either way, it's slightly more risky in this sense to get a touchscreen.
