  • Anyone get their MAcbook air 13inch?

    • +1

Nope, still waiting. At this rate my case is going to get here faster which I only ordered yesterday.

  • +2

For those that haven't yet received:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjkrv2-kwCs

    • let us know when you get yours cheers

  • I received my 2014 11 mba. I used to havr 2013 13 mba n somehow feel the 2013 version is actually faster n more responsive? 2014 keyboard is more tactile though. Is it just my impression? However 2013 ssd rated 500-700 mbs where 2014 ssd only achieve 300.

  • HURRY UP RUSLAN, I WANT MY IPAD NOW! :(

    • +2

Already got my cover, still waiting for the actual iPad……

  • Got my MacBook Air yesterday.

  • anyone got notice for ipad mini yet?

    • Not yet

    • Nope. 2 weeks already

      • The online reps are terrible when asking about dispatch details… Anyone got any tips?

        • I asked two reps named Mark and Fea. All the answers were Being processed at Warehouse.

        • +1

@laoya112: I got from Jessica and Danielle that on Friday it was in its 'final stages of processing' and i would receive tracking in 1-2 days.. I asked today and they said that they can't provide tracking until it has been dispatched (I asked a totally different question)

        • @cazzaaxx:

Well the meaning is the same. I think we just need to wait. There are lots of people who received their items without any notifications. It is still early than their expected date of delivery :)

  • received mine yesterday arvo around 2pm, i'm in SE melbourne.

can also confirm mine was the 2014 model. just wondering, would the 0.1 increase in processor speed compensate for the decreased speed of the ssd?

in any case, very happy with the purchase, given how much (or rather, how little) i paid for it and how laggy my windows laptop was becoming…now i just need to learn how to use the thing!

Another MBA11 that arrived yesterday. Also an 2014 model, so I assume that they ran out of 2013 models. Happy with the Air for this price. The only thing I noticed is that the display is 'less' crisp than I had expected. It appears there are 2 different LCDs, either LG or Samsung. I have the LG and it seems to be a bit washed out. You can 'fix' this with a different color profile, however I don't think it really makes it better.

To check the display manufacturer go to the following site: http://jonathanfield.me/?p=114
Note, you need to install XCODE for this test to work.

    What display did you get?

    • +1

      samsung :)

      • Can you tell me what week your MBA was made?
You can do this by entering your serial number here: http://www.chipmunk.nl/cgi-fast/applemodel.cgi

        • In case you are interested: Production week: 27 (July)

        • @mr who: Thank you.

My sister also has a week 27 manufactured 11"MBA, so I guess her screen will be an LG (not that she would care). She hasn't had a chance to open it up yet, but I will update here when she has.

      LG panel and Sandisk SSD.

  • Anyone who bought their macbook, have you tried validating the warranty with apple? https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

    • I doubt there is any Australian warranty for the MacBooks. It's asking me to validate my products purchase date with proof of purchase, and I doubt Kogan's receipt is authentic because a) they're not authorised mac reseller b) it says 1.3ghz on the receipt instead of the 1.4ghz that was delivered….. Having second thoughts now.

EDIT: never mind it appears apple only wanted my product purchase date (4th July 2014) instead of a receipt and it worked. Estimated expiration date 3rd July 2015. I'm a happy man. :)

      • doubt there is any Australian warranty for the MacBooks.

Apple MacBooks first sold in Hong Kong have a 12 month Global warranty.

It's asking me to validate my products purchase date with proof of purchase, and I doubt Kogan's receipt is authentic because a) they're not authorised mac reseller

It does not matter. The MacBook was first sold by an Authorised Apple ReSeller in Hong Kong. Kogan HK probably purchased from this reseller. Then Kogan HK resold the MacBook to you.

    • Yes as per rockman117's reply. Registered it yesterday without any issues :)

    • Anyone who bought their macbook, have you tried with apple?

I do not understand why you (and others on OzBargain) say "validating the warranty". The Apple page to which you link, says:-

Check Your Service and Support Coverage
Review your Apple warranty status and eligibility for support and extended coverage.

Of course you have a "valid" warranty. It is a Global warranty for 12 months. The only thing you 'miss out' on is the 24 months (and perhaps longer) Consumer Guarantee for which you would have been eligible had you purchased the MacBook in Australia.

However, do not forget the saving you made by buying from a Hong Kong seller.

  • sigh… :(

  • Anyone in Sydney willing to trade their 256GB 13" macbook for the 128GB version + $150? [I haven't received it yet]

    • do you mind waiting for that person to travel from Victoria lol.

Granted that the macbook arrives before my friend's travel. She is more interested in the 11 or the lesser 13.

      • Not sure if serious you're serious, however I wouldn't mind waiting if it's within the next month. When's she leaving for Sydney? Feel free to PM me instead. (Your account is not open for PM.)

  • Anyone in Perth (prefer south of the river) interested in swapping my still sealed 11"/128GB for a 13"/256GB + cash difference?

I ordered the 11" MBA for my (step)son (he has been begging his dad for the MBA for his upcoming birthday). My partner (his father) spoke with him today and told him the MBA had arrived. The little bugger says that he is no longer interested in the 11" MBA and wants a 13" instead. The 11" MBA is the 2014 model and is still sealed.

    • I wish you could be in Victoria. My friend got the 13 coz she missed the 11 and she is still second guessing the purchase

      • I am in Victoria and I would be very interested in trading if its the 13" 256GB model. I have a 11" 128GB. Let me know. Thanks

        • Let me talk to my friend. Keep you posted.

She is still waiting for it to arrive.

        • @dennis3107: keep me posted too :)

        • @chid: Anyone still interested. we got the mac.

        • we got the mac. Let me know if u'r still interested

        • Is it still sealed?

        • @skd100™:
I've got a 256 13" 2014 sealed as well. Tried to msg you few days ago with no luck , lol

        • @skd100™: still keep it sealed.

    • I wish I was in Perth. I

    • sell it to me?

Gavin: No, Mom, you idiot! I have "Bloodstorm", and "Bone Squad", and "Bloodstorm II", stupid.
Gavin's Mom: Oh, I'm sorry, honey. We'll take a "Bonestorm".
Gavin: Get two. I'm not sharing with Caitlin!
(The employee gets two copies of the same game)

Just got an email my iPad has left the warehouse with tracking!

    • +1

Tracking says it's out for delivery…

  • +1

my minis also on the way, can't wait!

  • +2

My mini arrived just now….SE Melbourne :)
    No email received…it just appeared!

    • how many was left when you ordered yours? black or white? Hopefully mine comes this week!

      • +2

I ordered pretty early on…first thing in the morning….it's a white one.
        Hope yours comes soon :)

        • was it sealed?

        • Yes, all sealed.
Came with an adapter also…haven't opened it yet (it's a gift) but I assume it has a different plug to AU.

    • Same here, SE suburbs, arrived after 4 pm today

      • Darn, I'm in SE as well but when I messaged Kogan today, I got the standard "order being processed and will be dispatched shortly". Hope it comes before I go overseas but looking very unlikely. They are so good at giving me the sads.

        Sigh.

  • I just got an email that my 13" macbook air has left the warehouse too! Exciting! My first mac :D

    • +1

Just got the same email! Can't wait :)

      • Me too. Can you guys use their link to track? I tracked the number but showed system error.

        • I just keep getting the "We were not able to find any information for this shipment" message. It might take a little bit until tracking information appears.

        • +1

The only way to track is to use this link

Mine showed Booking Arranged and Documentation Prepared

        • @laoya112:

Awesome! Thanks for that. Mine shows the same :)

        • Used laoya112's link + the tracking number in the email and it says "Booking arranged/Documentation Prepared" as of the 8th of July. Should be here soon.

        • @bmedia:
          @lanka93:

It is pretty weird that it still shows Booking Arranged and Documentation Prepared without any update.
Mine also says it started from 8th July. I think:
          * There is a huge delay of Toll tracking system, which seems unlikely.
          * Kogan has run out of their inventory and has to order from their supplier for more. Since there are a lot of people received their MBA, they just sent the email to tell you they have shipped in order to avoid so many dispatch requests but in fact they did not ship yet.

        • I just checked tracking again and it's been updated for the past week. It now appears to be 'In Transit to Destination':
          http://imgur.com/432aIlH

        • +1

          @lanka93:

Mine the same. Well currently it showed 15 Jul 14
          09:32
          HONG KONG
          Offloaded/Linehaul Delay

          What is that mean?

        • @laoya112: same status update like mine. I dont know what it means, but dislike the Delay word in there

        • +1

My order has recently updated to this:

16 Jul 14 18:00 Erskineville - AUSTRALIA In Transit to Destination

Should be here sometime tomorrow I believe!

How much money was your items worth?

      • hi, it s iPhone 5s. I already received the mac air. do they add price of this phone to the mac air?

        • +1

          From- http://www.abc.net.au/catapult/askexpert/s2390659.htm
All goods (except for tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if their value is AU$1000 or less.

However when there are multiple packages sent to the same addressee in Australia from a single consignor overseas and they arrive at about the same time, then the value of all packages will be combined for duty and tax assessment purposes.

For goods imported that are worth more than AU$1000, you will have to pay duty.

How much you pay depends on the classification of the goods under the Customs Tariff Act 1985

        • @videoman:

hopefully I'm safe. No telling when (if?) the mac air will be dispatched.

    • not bad cost 500 sell 875 i guess they should get a real job to make money.

      • I do have a real job. This is just easy money…

        • yeah well i guess there are dumb mfs out there.

        • +2

          @paulaus:
Can you please tell me how making $400 off doing practically nothing is being dumb?

        • @whatovit:

I think he was talking about the people who are buying them on ebay for so much money.

        • +2

I won't sell mine, but whats with these people saying 'get a job' to someone selling something for a modest profit? Do you say 'get a job' to the bums that bug you on the street or give them money so they can buy smokes and booze and come here and get on your high horse?

        • +1
        • ok i will buy 20 next time and under sell these tossers.

  • Just my 2 cents worth…. But the display is just terrible. I got the LG panel, and it is like using an LCD TV set to the wrong resolution, the words are that unclear. Bold fonts kind of clump together, if I read the first bold paragraph of this post, it's just really bad. It is the exact opposite of crisp. Other than the display it feels absolutely fantastic and is lightning quick, but my Asus Transformer has a better display than this thing. Would be interested to see what other people think.
I put the colour profile on that apparently makes the display better, I dont think it really helped just made it a bit more vivid.

    • As per my previous comment, I have to agree. However I seem to be getting used to the 'quality'. Note, I checked the stock in several store and most are LG. Even the Apple Store had all LGs. You can always see a genius if you are not happy. Maybe they agree to an exchange, but chances are you will get the same display in the next one.

Note: I did play around with the tweaks / commands that seem to have made it better:
      http://mac.software.com/tweaks/change-font-smoothing
      defaults write -g AppleAntiAliasingThreshold 128
As I have changed it around multiple times I am not sure where I am at at the moment, but less fuzzy for sure.

  • Just got mine today… Got 2014 edition of MBA 13' 256gb, if I knew we would get 2014 edition, I will buy at least 3 Macbook!

    • How many were left when you purchased yours?

      • 27 for me and no correspondence thus far

      • still a lot
