  • Are these any better than the $5 chairs (made using similar looking materials)?

  • Just watched the video from the website.

    Advantage:
-Lightweight and easy to carry around. Good for hiking long distances while camping i guess?

    Disadvantage:
    -Expensive.
-It looks as if you have to try and balance yourself on the chair using your feet. I don't know if it looks comfortable either compared to the sturdy $6 chairs with cup-holders from big W.

Thank goodness the price had dropped from $100, paying almost 20x the price of the average camping chair would not be worth it imo but each to their own.

  • +1

After a long day of hiking you hope you can stretch out your legs and rest, but this chair prevents that you from doing that. You constantly need to maintain a balancing act. The other ones which are stable by itself are not on sale.

  • You signed up just to post a deal for this horrible chair?

  • There are a few deals for this company recently from new members posting for the first time.

Went in to their shop recently and it was average.

  • These chairs are generally poorly viewed in the ultra-light community.

They have a known issue of the rods weakening and collapsing into the base of the chair.

If you want an ultra-light camping chair, look into the slightly heavier Alite Mayfly, it has a full-metal frame and 4 feet instead of 2.

It was/is on Massdrop recently for about $70.

  • I have one of these chairs, have had it for about 3 years now. They are not designed for the same use as the $5 chairs from BigW / Bunnings etc. They are for hiking where you have to carry everything 15km on your back before getting to your camp.

I find it quite comfortable once you find something (a log, rock) to use as a footstool. Much better than most of the other lightweight alternatives such as tripod stools.

$40 is an excellent price, I'll be getting another one for my girlfriend.
