  • I've got one and it's a decent unit. Good price too.

    Hrmmmm…. I think I will skip this one. I would like a spare but if I get this one I have a MX510, MX518, Naga, G502 and a G602 all still working.

    • G502 vs. G602 thoughts?

      • My G602 arrived today from the deal earlier in the week ($38+$5 from DS) and I'm liking the feel of it. It feels as responsive as a wired mouse when I was playing a FPS earlier.

  • +1

You could possibly get a further discount if you wait for the weekend 20% off on dicksmith ebay.

    • Is it listed on ebay - dicksmith?

    • +1

worked for me got one for $28… Thanking you… :)

  • hmm.. should I bite?
Already have the G9X and Razer deathadder…

    • +1

For $35 bucks its worth it. Its a really good mouse. I just don't like the design of it. Preferred if they kept the grey designed from the MX518.

      • Agreed. The G400s all-black aesthetics are definitely preferable, but at least unlike other G-Series mice, Logitech didn't replace the rubberised side-grips with that god-awful sandpaper-textured BS.

  • +3

One of the best gaming mice available right now imo.

No silly dudebro/g4m3r gimmicks, no ridiculously excessive DPI, just simple but comfortable ergonomics and a very responsive and trouble-free optical sensor with no jitter. Prefer it over every other flagship model I've tried (G700, R.A.T 7, Mamba, DeathAdder, Steelseries Sensei).

I missed the days when Logitech Shop had regular sales =/

  • I bought one not long ago. TBH I wish I'd spent a bit more on the G500s

coming from a 7 year old G5, I'd assumed this would be it's modern equivalent since it looks the same, but there's No illumination, No indication which speed you've set. and the + - buttons are in an awkward position (one either side of the scroll wheel)

BUT, at this price it's still a good deal IMO, just bear the above points in mind.

Tell you what though. that G5 - 7 years of use and abuse day in day out and was still working if not for a slightly dicky scroll wheel.

Certainly a good way to keep me loyal to the brand when I did decide to replace it.

  • As long as it uses COTD to deliver and not DSE …

    • Nope it will be delivered through Dick Smith. COTD would just be acting as an agent for Dick Smith.

  • I've heard these are the best optical gaming mouse.

    • Almost wins by default really, since only a few companies still make a mouse with an optical sensor. But yeah, the sensor in this mouse is as good as what you'd find in more expensive Razer optical mice.

    • The only definitive step-up from this is something like the Mionix Naos 7000, which is an optical mouse on steroids with a very high-grade sensor. But it does have drastically different ergonomics that are certainly not as universally-suitable as the G400S.

Also, this is one of the best gaming mice, period. By virtue of being optical. Lasers have more cons than pros.

Most gaming mice suck, they're overpriced, they have bad ergonomics and pointless features.

This however is a great mouse, it's big, it's affordable and it does everything you need it to do.

  • 6 months of my G440 and a area of the mousepad which i use most often got grinded of and lost all its frictionless glide. Fantastic mousepad for the first few months but don't expect it to last.

  • I replaced my MX518 with this about a year ago. I like the hydrophobic surface; it doesn't draw out as much sweat as the MX518 so you don't need to wipe any accumulating sludge off it as often. My hand also seems to stay warmer (noticeable in winter), either because of the different material or because it draws out less sweat or both.

Unfortunately the rubberized grips on both mice wear out over time. The MX518's rubber became sticky and I eventually scrapped much of it off, leaving me with smooth plastic. The G400s's rubber is also starting to wear off but the rubber is still smooth and not sticky so I'm fine with it for now.

This is probably subjective, but in Starcraft II, I noticed that I could split marines easier/faster with the MX518 because rapid alternations between left & right clicking was easier than the G400s. With the G400s, once I box selected with the left-click button and tried to move the marines with right click, the command wasn't accepted because the left-click button was still being held down. This occured far less frequently when I used the MX518. Not really sure why. But that's highly circumstantial and apart from that, you'll probably never notice.

If you want the rubbery feel again, you can try spraying it with PlastiDip (also known as ArmorAll Custom Shield Coating via SuperCheap Auto,).
Simply tape up areas you don't want covered, and spray. When dry, it leaves a rubbery protective coating that is hard-wearing and long lasting.
Stuffed up or don't like it? Just peel it off.

Have done it to my G500s and its still going strong.

  • +1

I bought one for 45 dollars a while back. No regrets. I used an MX518 prior to this so it felt pretty much the same, ergonomically, but the material and mouse wheel feel much better. Sensor is also superior!

  • im after a wireless one, what the best wireless gaming mouse under 100?

    • +1

      g700s or the g602 imo :D

      • I thought the dicksmith g602 deal would last till another DS coupon comes around, I guess I was wrong..

  • Awesome deal, thanks!

  • I got one too. The price on the G502 is not bad either… but I couldn't justify the difference in this case even if the more expensive mice is supposed to be the best on the market.

  • One more mouse added to my collection~!

Sucks cuz i got a g500s not long ago too…

    • That's fine, you'll be able to compare the different sensors now. G400s is optical and G500s is laser. Worth seeing which you prefer.

  • Purchased, thanks OP. Been looking for a new mouse.

  • Thanks OP! been waiting for this to go on sale

Paid less than $30 last weekend with the 15% off last weekend with ebay via DS includin shippin . With 20% off this weekend this weekend it will be even cheaper .

    • S***, ur right, will be 20% off 35. So $28 this sunday.

      Deal should be updated.

    • And it arrived within a few days to the west coast ….

  • After 7 years with my mx518 it finally died. I'm shattered :s

Ergonomically, how does this one compare? I bought a gigabyte mouse and it feels terrible in comparison so I'm looking to upgrade.

    • I bought the g400s to replace my mx500 and it is identical in everyway that I can see except for slight differences in the finish . I would go so far as to say they are still using the same mold for the shell . The g400s only has 3 feet compared to the mx500's 4 .
The buttons are a bit stiffer but my old mx500 was nearly ten years old …

    • That how old my one is. It is as old as this computer that I am typing on. Q9550 FTW hahahaha.

  • Ive had a g700 for 3 years now, no regrets!

  • Don't worry for those that missed out last time this is again showing as in stock at $34.95 delivered. Now's your chance.

  • and if you still miss out, they're $43 at msy, so you're losing that much!

  • The G700 is $4 at DSE. Just bought one at my local store. Wired and wireless, best of both worlds!

    • Huh $4 only….. Sigh me wants for that price.

      • Strange. G700 is listed as $80 on Dick Smith ebay. Possible pricing error at that Dick Smith store?.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-G700s-Gaming-Mouse-/2614…

        • but that is G700S though.

        • I didn't think Dick Smith still sold the old G700 model it hadn't been listed on the Dick Smith web site for a long long time. Never mind i already have a G700s.

      • $4? Can you upload a receipt? Which local store?

        • Yes need proof. At the moment it's just here-say. There is no Logitech G700 listed on Dick Smith online and the only one on the Dick Smith ebay is the G700s at $80.

    • And what is your local store?

    • Buy me one and I'll pay you $14 (if you're in Sydney) :)

  • Bought one, been waiting for a while to get this on sale

  • +5

Thanks OP, picked one up on ebay store with 'CBIGTREAT' 20% off for $28. (20% Off | eBay G400s)

    • Me too. $28 :-)

  • Thanks I bought this one and 2TB Toshiba portable HDD
