Logitech F310 Gamepad $10.98 Delivered @ Dick Smith

1640

USB controller for use with PC gaming. I have one of these - paid around $20 for it probably 6 months ago when my previous Razer controller packed it in. This controller is far cheaper than an Xbox or similar but I have to say, while it's a bit of a different feel I've been very happy with it.

I've not encountered any games it won't work with out of the box (provided they support Xbox 360 gamepad input).

This is the cheapest I've seen this controller - typically runs $20-$30 on special. Enjoy!

It says free delivery. Change your title OP.

Wow - even better deal. Updated, thanks for the headsup!

      • +3

        No worries. Great first post.

    • +1

I ordered one when I was trying to buy the cheap AA rechargeable batteries. Because the controller was free delivery, it made my whole order free delivery :)

  • +1

Get a ps3/ps4 or xbox controller is better
and you can use it on pc..

    • +7

At $11, I'm not sure if you can get an XBOX/PS3 controller.

      • +1

And if you only game on PC, it's irrelevant. If you have a PS / Xbox, you likely already have a controller for them..

        • +1

If you already have an XBOX you most likely have the wireless controller which can't work on PC without a wireless receiver (like $12 from dx.com). PS3 controllers though you can plug in with USB cable or use a $2 bluetooth adapter.

        • +1

Bought my wireless reciever for a buck on ebay- works a charm ;-)

        • Bought my wireless reciever for a buck on ebay

          $1?

          Linky?

      • Can this be programmed to work with majority of xbox or console port titles on PC?
Good for playing old school SNES/Genesis console emulation on PC, which I use with an older Logitech model.

        • If it doesn't work natively, it works with Xpadder apparently?

        • +2

Any game that supports xbox 360 controller will support this

      • I got preowned XBOX 360 for $7 from EB and I'm happy with it. I can use it on my PC PS2 emulator as well as Xbox 360 itself.

however, it's out of stock atm, but you can try to your local store
        https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-135949-Xbox-360-Wired-Con…

      • yeah it's way cheaper, but i find the d-pad on this controller useless for fighting games like street fighter.

    • probably a stupid question but I have a ps3 controller (which has the detachable micro-usb slot/port/cable that connects via usb to the ps3) does this mean it is wireless, I mean does this mean I can play/connect with it to the pc either through wired and/or wireless options, and if so how? is it as simple as plug and play like I hear the xbox 360 controllers are? if not, what are the steps to get it working with a pc/laptop, if anyone knows?

also can I connect two (more than one, if I only have 2 usb 2.0 slots and 1 usb 3.0 slots on this laptop)

thanks for any replies/help in advanced on the subject.

really looking at getting a couple of these now while they're cheap for some fun local co-op/party play but if i already have some readily available working solutions at home now then maybe I shouldn't bother with buying these.

although I do like the feel of the xbox 360 controllers

      • You can connect ps3 controllers but you need extra software, I think it might be called DS3 or something I can't remember.

      • +11

I've written two guides, one for using the xbox 360 controller on PC and one for using the PS3 controller on PC.

The controllers have survived multiple Castle Crasher sessions without any problems. The guides should be easy enough to follow.

        • +2

Getting either of them to work is such a sh*tfight - but these are lovely clear guides! Well done :)

        • +1

Cool that new PS3 driver is heaps easier than using Motioninjoy

        • Thanks twig! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Just got both BattleBlock Theater and Castle Crashers in the Can't Stop Laughing Bundle when it hit 90% and this will be a great help in getting them both up and working with my PS3 controllers. The guides were much appreciated and easy to follow/understand.

          (plus loved the patrickdominos.gif haha)

No vibration feedback / rumble on this it seems?

Edit: For those after a 360 controller / rumble, EB still have their preowned Xbox 360 controllers available in store…$6 atm:

    https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-135949-Xbox-360-Wired-Control…

    https://ebgames.com.au/stores/find-stock/135949

    • +2

When buying used goods from EB Games, ask if you can look at them. Just give it a quick check over to make sure all the buttons and analog sticks work. Saves the trouble of having to come back again if you find a button stuck or inoperable.

    • Even when the preowned controllers are "in stock" according to the website, calling local stores always gives the response that they are "rare" and not in stock anywhere. However you might get lucky, as I managed to buy two of them for under just under $20 each a couple of years back.

      • Yeah it's hard to find the wired 360 controllers these days. I found one for an arcade stick mod and managed to destroy it and had to hack one of my madcatz fightpads instead because I couldn't find another cheap one easily(which ended up being way easier but they cost more).

  • Dumb question - but is this a precision controller?

Meaning that if you tilt the joystick a little bit, the character on screen walks, if you tilt the joystick all the way, the character runs. Is that how it is?

    • +9

Yeah that is what the analog sticks are for

    • +5

By definition, that what analog sticks do. A digital input (like most d-pads) is an on/off input (not pressed = 0, pressed = 1). An analog input (like analog sticks) has a range of values (not tilted = 0, tilted full = 1, tilted halfway = 0.5, tilted one third = 0.33333 etc). I'm sure there are some digital joysticks out there (read cheap POS), but they certainly aren't common and this Logitech gamepad definitely has analog sticks.

      • +1

I'm sure there are some digital joysticks out there (read cheap POS)

Yep, exactly what I had 'back in the day' haha, hence the question

        Thanks gents, worth getting then!

        • +2

I had both this and XBox 360 controller for PC. This one is not as precise as the XBox controller when it comes to 360 degree controlling (I play FIFA). For example, when you are running straight, changing the direction a small degree like 5-10 doesn't work most of the time. So if you really care about exact precision, this isn't your best bet.

$11 is a great price thou.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Bought one. Been waiting for a deal of a passable gamepad for my casual PC gaming.

  • I have had one of these for the past two years and have never encountered a problem with any game.

I have never played my xbox360 so I don't know their controllers, but this feels more like a ps3.
Was tempted to get one for a second player to use when streaming steam to my TV, but will use my 360 controller for them

    • What do you mean by, "never played my xbox360"?
Do you use it as a pillow?

      • +1

I mean I brought it with gears of war triple pack, played the tutorial for the game and got stuck behind a rock after a few minutes (glitch), got annoyed and turned it off

Didn't play it for another 2 years, playing ps3 instead. Then went to try again and the DVD drawer was broken, it wouldn't eject and the game is stuck inside. Hence, I heave never really played it, total waste of money

        • "stuck behind a rock" haha, that's a classic!

  • Any idea if it would go for this price in-store too? Or is it just an online offer?

    • I would grab it now, delivery is free anyway!

      • True, thanks. I was going to head out anyway, but yeah, figured it was worth ordering now in case they sold out.

  • +1

Note - the free shipping on this item carried across to a bunch of batteries I was just about to order which would normally have incurred a £4.95 shipping cost.

On checkout I had $0 shipping cost for the whole order so can view this controller as a $6.98 purchases given I was ordering the batteries anyway.

    • Same for me, grabbed a couple of the 15m Cat6 cables for about $7 each and the free delivery applied to them too! Woohoo :)

  • +1

Thanks for the pickup on this, its going to go down well as some disposable controllers for events! +1

  • +1

I've had one of these for ages and absolutely love it. Highly recommended!

  • just a heads up only the F710, XBOX360 wired and wireless controllers officially work with Steam Big Picture.. It is true there is 3rd party drivers for other controllers such as PS3 but i have not been able to get them working. Great for the price no doubt but if you are using W7 machine the Microsoft products (XBOX) have by far the best driver support as you would expect. I got my PC enabled XBOX controller for about $37 from JB.

    • +1

Any xbox based controllers will work including the F310.

3rd party controllers such as PS3 or PS4 should work fine in xbox 360 emulation mode.

    • Just tested my F310 - works 100% with Big Picture, no drivers / etc required. I've not run into anything it's not been compatible with thus far in PC gaming across a couple hundred titles on Steam.

    • fyi you can get cash back Microsoft for the Wired Xbox Controller for PC too this time.

  • +3

    Bought 4. Thanks!

  • +2

Hi all. Just an FYI…this controller also apparently works for Mac:

    http://www.cnet.com/au/how-to/how-to-connect-game-controller…

I just bought one based on this review! Thanks heaps for the post, I've been meaning to buy a Mac controller for ages but they were all pretty expensive! This is an absolute steal!

  • +1

can't go wrong for $10 if you need a controller, I bought mine I think for around $17 a few years back

  • How big is the lack of rumble?

I'll need a controller for Mortal Kombat and GTA V on PC.

    • +1

      rumble is useless.

The only thing I like about it is the weight it gives the controller.

      • Have you used an Xbox One controller? I think the rumble motors they've added into the triggers are quite excellent.

  • -2

So does this controller work with xbox360?

  • +1

I replaced my one of these for a Xbox 360 controller instead. The deadzones on this thing are huge. Playing platformers or the like are fine but trying to play any kind of simulation racing game that requires very small movements wasn't fantastic and I found it quite jerky.

    • +1

Just found this youtube video on this controller. Warning people not to buy this controller due to deadzone.

I use an old Logitec WingMan Cordless RumblePad and Official cordless Xbox controller with 3rd party usb adapter and both work fine on my windows 7 64bit PC.

  • -3

Getting a ps3/xbox controller is better (if you don't already have one)

Those controllers are made more better than logitech brand…
    is more precise, etc..

They will work on the pc as well..
Just need to install the drivers for it..

PS3 controller software and driver for PC - http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/

    • +1

Yes they are "more better" than the Logitech gamepad, but they are also more expensive - significantly.

  • Work with MAME? Or other emulators?

  • This was the first controller for the PC I ever owned, though I later picked up a genuine wired XBox controller on Ebay (beware of fakes.) There was a reason why, I just cannot remember it.

  • +1

i did it! i resisted. too many controllers already…

    • I was standing in front of them, but decided not to grab one. It's very good deal though.

  • I ordered 8 I don't even need that many

    • scratch that they cancelled my order for using my bro's card so I had to reorder went and ordered the max allowed of 11

  • -4

    Thanks I ordered 16.

  • As someone who has a Xbox360 wireless controller, would it just be better to get a wireless transceiver or this instead?

    • Wireless receiver

    • Yep a ~$10 wireless receiver from eBay would be a much better idea. I've had one for about 4 years and it hasn't skipped a beat :)

  • +1

Was looking out for the F710 for ages but I'll happily settle for this. Thanks op!

  • Probly better to use a microsoft xbox controller, the build quality is great and definitely worth the extra 20 bucks or so.

That being said I've never used this controller personally, i had looked at it previously when looking to purchase my own but settled on a wired 360 controller for PC

  • +1

Bought two. Already have one at home, but this would be great for local multi-player. This should be able to replace my generic controllers… that I got for $15 each. Thank you, Dick Smith! And OzBargain, and bunkymag, of course.

    • Welcome! Enjoy :)

  • This is also in-store. Bought one at Jesmond :) thanks OP!

  • +1

Thanks, I've been looking for one of these. I like gaming with mouse and keyboard, but sometimes it's useful to have a bit of variation in control using a gamepad, instead of just an on/off state.

  • SO this one will work on all PC games no problem? need one for playing driving games, using keyboard to steer is such a pain !!!

    • It should have a high rate of compatibility.

      • although not as high as xbox controller, if you're worried about compatibility just get a xbox controller

  • I just tried ordering 1 controller and it didn't let me choose Home Delivery. The only option available was Click & Collect. Did I miss something ? Thanks !

    • Same. Broked. And click and collect doesn't work anyway. Poop.

  • Just picked up instore for $10.98. Chatswood Chase now sold out.
