Issues with GearBest and Going Forward

Placed two order before in gearbest and none of them got delivered.
Seems lots ppl got same problem. I don't want to see any more ppl suffer, this is why I post this "deal"
Let's warn everybody else gearbest is a scam website and suggest ozbargain to ban it!

Suggestion: what I think we can do is: can we purchase that 40 c plug via paypal and wait after 10 days. All of us make a dispute and see whether their paypal account will be locked?

  • I also haven't received the speaker and the 1 cent light (received the iPhone cables). Their hit rate looks very patchy (just by looking at all the complaints here). I personally would say it's part of the business model … many people will not complain about a non received 1-10$ item … :-(

  • The few things I bought from GearBest have all (eventually) been delivered and today I received the following apology email with a 10% Off coupon (TLDR). Login is required to use the coupon but e.g. this goes from $192.84 to $173.56 USD shipped.

    We purchased from them on the 27th April, a lot of time had passes so I decided to open a PayPal dispute but unlucky me 45 days had already passed. So I emailed gearbest and asked for a tracking number.
    Here is there response

    Dear, Thanks very much for placing the order with us. I am really sorry to reply to you so late. We shipped it out on 05/05/2014. It will take about 15-45 business days to arrive after dispatch. Shipping times will be affected during public holidays; manufacturers and couriers will limit their operations at these times. This is outside our control. Normal service resumes immediately after each holiday. And it is on the way now and please kindly wait for it patiently. Hope you can receive it soon. Thank you for your kind understanding and assistance. Best regards, Cathy.

    Funny thing is 45 days had passed…and still nothing has arrived. Which I told them

    They then replied can you confirm we have the correct address and yes all was correct

    But they sent another email to confirm address once again I told them again yes they are correct

    I asked for a PayPal invoice and that they let me know the tracking number and when they have sent my item to let me know

    so you are black mailing us, you are saying if we don’t close the case you won’t send our item (which we paid for and have now paid additional postage). I paid the additional money and was told you would send it ASAP and still you haven’t sent it. And now you are saying you are not going to re-send it so you are stop us from getting our item all together. I still don’t think I should close it but I will. This is not how you do business I am very disgusted in the way you have delayed sending my item (and I don’t believe you sent me one in the first place) and now won’t send unless we do what you want. I am going to forward your response to ozbargin as I think they should see how you treat your customers. We don’t have a PayPal dispute we only have one with you. Which I will close when I receive all of my money back from you

  • Received my g1wh Dashcam yesterday. Good product and a great price. Received it in about 5 - 6 weeks since order date

  • Got my speakers today. (Sydney, NSW).

  • i think they use the same drop shipper that i used (to be smart i ordered the same item from buy in coins), my item didnt arrive from the china company either.

    so can we blame the website we paid or be wary that dropshipping can effect any online retailer, including aus based sellers (hence the big arguments about stock levels only an indication of stock and if ozbargained stock levels can disappear from the retail channel)

      my item arrived today after being stalled at every point by buy in coins 'support'
      sent 20/5 arrived 2 months later, post dates are legit as per email photo of my package in the BIC order summary is the same as arrived by aus post.

      so can it be a customs/aus post ploy to slow foreign goods that do not contribute to revenue paid within aus?

      and yes I do like conspiracy theory's

  • If I have a tracking number from Gearbest starting with CA followed by fourteen digits where do I go to input the code to check it? The e-mail states shipping can be tracked via AUPS1 whatever that means.

    After 2.5 months, I have finally received my speakers! It was sent from Singapore on 9th May and it took exactly 2 months to arrive!

    The speaker actually works quite well - at least for the first hour. Loud and clear enough in the shower. However I can see there are holes on the bottom - I am not convinced it's waterproof.

    Unbelievable … Just recieved my 39c blue cable after 3 months!! I posted on the 3rd page.

    Now did they just post it out or what after so many complaints? I posted a comment here on 27/6/14 and got it today … They must have posted everything once this thread started.

    Received my BT speaker!!! I've now received every item that I've ordered from Gearbest. Other items have turned up in the normal China/Hong Kong delivery times, just not this bloody speaker - was a nice surprise!

  • My mobile phone was delivered within twelve days with free shipping. It took five days to send from China to Sydney where it was re-labelled and forwarded on to Perth. Not sure why they did that as it wasted time.

    All my Gearbest orders have been delivered.

  • Good to hear people are finally getting their orders. After 50 business days (3 months after placing the order), I finally requested a refund from Gearbest, and to their credit, they did so with little fuss. However, this doesn't change that they're delivery method takes a very long time. For an order to take a quarter of a year is crazy in this day and age. I can buy a 99c item on eBay from China, and have it within a month, so I have trouble understanding exactly why GB take so long. Personally, I won't be ordering through them again.

    Finally received all my stuff last week and have since ordered some other stuff from GB as I got the speaker and bike bag free.
    Hopefully I don't have to wait 2.5 months for the new stuff to arrive.

    I finally got my product (BT Speaker) after 94 days. The post date looks to be in line with when they said they sent it. I had got a refund, so I offered to repay it, and they responded with

    kudos to Gearbest. It does really seem like they have been unfortunate in all of this, and it would have really cost them (in terms of $$ and reputation). I hope everyone else gets their stuff, and that some day gearbest can post their deals again (after sorting out shipping arrangements).

      Thanks for giving the feedback. It is fine for people to complain about Gearbest, but it in everyone's best interest if people also speak up and be honest when/if the problem is resolved.

    • Nope, had a reminder set for today to email them about it since it's officially 40 days since payment. If I don't get a refund within the next two days, I'm filing a PayPal dispute for the 44c back.

        • Yeah, ended up opening up a dispute with PayPal and got my money back after they failed to reply to PayPal. As others have commented, GearBest requests to drop the PayPal dispute for immediate refund but I'd be a fool to comply with their demands.

          Admittedly, the item was only $0.42 but seeing as it's way over 2 months now and no item was ever received, GearBest did not deserve any of my money at all.

      Never got it. Opened a Paypal dispute on 45 days and now Gearbest is trying to drag that out. A lot of effort over US$0.39.

      But I guess that's their business model - "sell" a lot of 39c's and hope that many people will forget or won't bother to dispute it.

        Rather than responding to the Paypal dispute, Gearbest opened a support ticket via their website.

        They asked me to check with the local post office and I did. So now they're just repeating the "check the post office" line and pushing for me to wait until 45 days after dispatch by which time Paypal protection would have elapsed.

        • Now they are promising a refund if I close the Paypal dispute. The reason being so that "they can refund to me directly".

          Needless to say the dispute is staying open.

        • I could see no legitimate reason for Gearbest asking me to close the Paypal dispute before issuing a "direct refund", whatever that is. Left it to the Paypal dispute process and got the money back.

          It's been another month now (2.5 months since order date) and I think it's fairly safe to say the package isn't just late as Gearbest claims.

          According to your emails, the item was shipped out more than 2 weeks after the order was placed.

          Paypal's buyer protection is 45 days from payment. You offer 45 days from date of shipment and repeatedly push the customer to surrender their Paypal protection. I don't trust Gearbest nearly enough to do that.

  • Got my speaker a few days after receiving my refund. They offered the speaker as a free gift kindly. No complaint but the delivery company they chose is to blame. I have ordered some other items and hopefully they have learnt from this lesson.

  • Hey Rep are your still around? I just came here to say my bluetooth speaker has finally arrived (after it was refunded) and to see how others had handled "reversing the refund". I notice that you've offered them as a gift to others, so unless I here otherwise I'll presume I'm in the same boat?? :)

    The speaker does have decent sound and volume for it's size and price, I'm quite impressed. The charger connection seems pretty dodgy though - I think that will be the failure point. Shame it couldn't be a standard micro-usb port.

  • It seems like the majority of OzBargainers have either received their items or a refund. Sounds like Gearbest has sorted out their shipping issues for future deals. Let us know if there are still some outstanding issues otherwise we will lift the ban shortly.

    • I've made another order on 14-07-2014, and the status was changed to "shipped out" on 15-07-2014. I am still waiting for the item to arrive. Maybe they are still using the dodgy courier. Will update if I receive it or not later

    • I still haven't receive the smart plug and nobody has commented that they received it. A lot of people probably forgot they ordered the 44c plug.

    I received a refund. My original shower speaker was defective.

    In my experience Gearbest have been very professional and keen to resolve issues. They might be slow but they mean well.

  • Funnily enough I received the 8L campbag today, which I forgot I had ordered…

    But I agree, I have no qualms against Gearbest for the delay(at $2.49 for something I'm probably not going to use) but hopefully they use a more reliable shipping service in the future.

  • Another call for pending issues with GearBest. As GearBest has shown working hard resolving the delivery problem and refunds, if there's no further issue we'll unban GearBest later in the evening.

  • Will never be buying a thing from GearBest again . It has been a total nightmare .In all the years i have been buying items on the internet i have never had as much trouble as i am having with this company .

    Ordered the item back first week of Nov . Took them weeks to send the item out. Only took them a day to charge my credit card though . They aren't slow in doing that . When they did, They sent it to the wrong address with incorrect name . Which means the item is now stuck in Australian post . Waiting to be sent back to sender .

    I have the dashcam and Lenovo K3 Note both said shipped but from Auspost and Singpost after a week still only initiated.

    What is going on?

    When tracking my item, what does 'initiated' mean?
    The tracking status 'initiated' means that the sender has entered shipping information into our online system, and either:

    a) the pickup has not yet been recorded in our tracking system, OR

    b) Australia Post has not yet received the item from the sender

    Pickup information is usually confirmed within 24 hours.

    Please see my issue below where I ordered a Lenovo K3 Note as the primary item:

    25/05/2015 - Order placed (Expedited/DHL with shipping insurance). Original order showed 1-3 days dispatch time

    28/05/15 - Live chat: Told order will be dispatched same day

    29/05/15 - Live chat: Told order is delayed for 1-3 days

    01/06/15 - Ticket opened: Told again delayed for an additional 1-3 days

    05/06/15 - Part order shipped: No phone included

    05/06/15 - Ticket opened: Told phone further delayed by 3-5 days

    15/06/15 - Ticket opened: No reply.

    16/06/15 - Still no reply to the ticket

    Other users who ordered after me are reporting receiving their phone in the past few days where mine still hasn't even been dispatched.

    I'm now at day 22 and your customer service will not answer me.

    I am very disappointed.

    In their site its still in stock….and keep on fooling people……. how is that possible when then cant even send an item which was brought 17 days ago?

  • I just saw a picture (dated Jun 01, 2015) of my parcel in transit (showing my delivery address) on the 'Order Status' link from the 'My Order' page of Gearbest.

    Without a description of the pic, I can only guess that it means that my parcel currently exists in the world somewhere and that it'll arrive sometime in the future.

  • My parcel arrived in SA today; exactly one month after I ordered it.

  • my only issue with gear best is the slowwwwww delivery, but the 5 orders I've placed have all arrived.
    And I'm not willing to pay for express postage.

  • Ordered a dashcam, received an email few days ago with postage details stating flat rate postage. Not happy because I paid extra for expedited (Toll to Australia) postage.

    I have sent 3 messages (tickets) all unanswered. I do not trust this company, sorry I ordered from them!

    • Seems that I may have been too hasty with my criticism, started to receive tracking info. and it has been sent priority after all! However there is a definite communication problem with incorrect info. being emailed out to buyers.

  • I can't remember the exact timing but just guessing -
    about 3 days to receive the tracking number
    probably about another 2-3 days before the tracking info worked and at that stage it was already in Australia

    Provided you chose the expedited option (about $6 extra for my dashcam) then you should receive within about 10-12 days of order.

    The dashcam is working perfectly so no worries there.

  • Ordered two parcels here are the stats:
    Ordered parcel on the 19 July, with a claim to ship 3-5 days of shipping. Claimed to have shipped it on the 23 July, Sent snail mail up to 25 business days, So passed and now they are saying delievey deadline is 23 of September? 15 Dollar Headphones. Order number: W1507190420269909

    Ordered parcel on 1st of August, with a claim to ship 3-5 days of shipping actually shipped it out on the 8th of August. Checked tracking number at some eretaillogistics they claim it's "customs cleared" since the 13 th of August.This one is a 100 buck tablet. Order number: W1507311801426399

    Got in touch with there support, got told to call post office, go to post office, did both of those today thanks for wasting me time. Got told no and Post office guy said eretaillogistics might not even use Aus post and he hasn't even heard of them, at this stage, i'm only a day away from calling my bank saying fraud, first and last time i order from them.

  • Terrible, terrible experience. I paid $120 USD for items which they claimed were in stock. After a month of not receiving anything, I followed up with them only to be told all items were out of stock. I asked for a refund and was told all items had been shipped, regardless of the fact that there was no tracking number or evidence that this was the case. A week later I am told that nothing has been shipped.

    I decide to lodge a paypal dispute to request a refund. Gearbest told me they can ONLY issue a refund if I close the paypal dispute. As such (stupid me), I closed the paypal dispute. No refund from Gearbest. Two months later I chase this up with them. They claim all items were shipped. They were not. In the end, after 3 and a half months I had to go direct to paypal to resolve this issue because Gearbest refused to refund me and even threatened me with legal action for having lodged a paypal dispute in the first place.

    DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!

  • Hi, can confirm they are either a scam or extremely slow, 35 days and no delivery yet. My order: WW1508240350530332 for some google glasses.

  • I have bought many products from Gearbest and in the most part have not had an issue with the products or shipping (although slow), however one order has me sharing my story and warning other ozbargain friends to avoid them at all costs.

    The one order was for a phone and smart watch.

    After finally receiving the items i found the watch was not working or charging, we went through trouble shooting it, and it was confirmed it was defective and I was told I would have a credit applied to my account. (note: this never was given)

    When I went to charge the phone some of the connector pins in the phone snapped off. I mentioned this in my support ticket and was told as one option that I could send it back to them to be fixed.
    I did this at additional cost to myself.

    After some time from not hearing from them I updated the ticket to find they had received the phone and that it would take up to 15 days to repair.

    to cut a long story a little shorter, over a 6 month period I questioned the status of the repair multiple times, each time to be told 15 days, eventually adding the option for a refund I I preferred.

    Wanting the phone I stayed patient with them, however after so many broken promises of it going to be fixed my patience ran out and I opted for the refund.

    They offered me a 70% refund.

    Over several messages I shared my unhappiness with this as I do not believe I should be out of pocket by 30% just because a products they sold was defective, also mentioning that i was still owed a credit for the watch.

    their standard reply was "this is the best we can offer, please accept it"

    In time they also stated that i was a special case as they only give refunds within a certain period and I was 6 months after that, of course I had to remind them that I submitted the ticket the day after I received the items and the phone was posted that same week.

    I eventually caved in and started negotiating other options, eg. a full refund as a credit, a new phone sent out, both shut down (unless I paid for postage of $15USD for a new phone, even though the price cheaper by this time, and only $4.99 more (with free shipping) than the pathetic 70% they were offering as a refund, still not fair but I would get my phone.

    I finally gave up on the phone, not trusting them or the products and continued to put forward solutions that were still not fair for me, but would see a resolution that would end this 6+ month old case.

    For some time now, they have not responded to my help/ticket updates .. they still have the unfixed phone (which I no longer trust or want after all this time) and still have not applied a credit for the watch.

    however from my experience with this order and from other comments here, this is far from the truth (or my dictionary's meanings for "happy" and "promise" is completely wrong.)

    I am more than happy to go to every review site there is and share my negative experience to the world in order to deter people from buying from them, which I know without doubt will cost them a lot more in business than the 30% they are trying to rip my off by and the promised credit they said they would apply. but hey if that is how they want to conduct business, then that is what I will do.
    I am going to hold off for a little while before going down that path, but thought I would share it here first because ozbargain has been good to me for some time now, and I felt that other uses of the site should be fully aware of how gearbest conduct business in order to avoid them (many other positive alternatives/sites out there that are honest and fair)

    • How much did it cost to send it back? I think the best approach for faulty goods is to raise a paypal dispute then send it back for a full refund. You can always buy it from somewhere else.

      • Around $10 .. because I purchased from them before without issue, I went down the trust path .. i believe now the 15 day spiel was going on to cover the paypal claim period .. my bad

  • FYI, as of 7/10/15: Due to an increasing number of issues with GearBest, we have banned the store from all deal posts (both rep and non rep) on OzBargain.

    • Please Neil don't lift the ban on them again for any reason. They've shown multiple times that they can't be trusted and can't keep their promise of “Gearbest are fully committed to make every customer happy”.

  • Just like to add my positive experience with the Gearbest reps Gina and Sydnie who always responded to my questions within 24hrs when pm through Ozbargain. I was extremely pleased when they offered to replace my Xiaomi Piston 3 headphones which were DOA for free without having to send the faulty ones back, got them a few days ago and sound great.

    • Year I didn't have a problem with them for stuff that you don't mind waiting a looooonnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggg time for.
      They seemed good with resolving any other issue.

  • I have brought a Meixu MX5, on preorder sales for 330 USD, not a small amount from Australia. They sent me a chinenes version, which i could not use in Australia. I got on to the customer service and asked them to change the model to International version. They were okay with it. I sent the mobile by the courier I could get, DHL was the only one to take it. The mobile was lying with the chinese customs for more than 8 weeks. On my repeated messages to the customer service, they picked up the mobile and asked my to fund an amount of 14 USD for duties and and amount of 26 USD for the additional cost of the International version. I made the payments through paypal. Surprisingly the customer service is now quite and they wont respond back to my messages. I have spend close to 360 USD for something which I have not got yet and is more than 5 months..Disgusted with the customer service and the sales model.

  • It took about 3 months to replace a faulty ulefone betouch2. I got there in the end, so you need to be prepared to wait, wait, wait if there is any problem.

    Bought two tablets and accessories from Gear Best.

    They split the order in two. The accessories arrived safe but the tablets never arrived.

    Support just kept fobbing me off, wouldnt answer questions about tracking or shipping.

    Finaly after 45 days late i made paypal claim. They still kept fobbing me off and using delay tactics until i finaly had enough and escalated paypal to a claim and they finmaly refunded.

    They seam to have the policy of lies and delays in any manner to keep the customer waiting.

    I regret ever having anything to do with gearbest, Oh BTW dont think the insurance you poay for means anything, i paid for it and it did not help at all, in fact they went out their way to not respect the insurance paid for.

    I will never buy from them again and i do a LOT of online shopping in China.
