HDMI Cable Description:

HDMI TO HDMI CABLE - HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). HDMI is a small, user-friendly interconnect that provides up to 5 Gbps of bandwidth to support high - definition video plus multi - channel audio in a single cable.

Type-A 19-pin plugs for digital connections between compatible Audio/Video source components and display devices such as LCD screens and projector and Plasma screens. HDMI plugs are gold plated for highest quality connections.

The first industry-supported uncompressed all-digital audio/video interface, this HDMI cable provides an interface between any audio/video source such as a set-top box DVD player and A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor such as a digital television (DTV). HDMI supports standard enhanced or high-definition video plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable.

High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HMDI, transmits pure digital video and digital audio over a single, easily managed cable. Like the DVI standard on which it is based, HDMI transmits uncompressed high-definition video with a theoretical bandwidth over 5Gb/sec, but adds 6-channel digital audio and a bi-directional control channel that lets components communicate with each other. The benefits of this new technology are significant: razor-sharp images over long cable lengths and without analog artifacts, multi-channel digital surround sound, components that automatically adjust to optimal settings, and the ability of the consumer to control multiple home theater components through a single remote. As with DVI, HDMI supports the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) standard.

Features:

  • The first industry supported, uncompressed, all digital audio/video interface.
  • Cable constructed using the high quality material for best contact connection between HDMI equipment.
  • Provides up to 5 Gbps per second Audio & Video signals transferring.
  • Supports multiple audio formats from stereo to multi-channel sound.
  • HDMI plugs are gold plated for highest quality connections.

  • Supports uncompressed audio/video signals
  • Fully HDCP compliant to provide highest level of signal quality

  • Sounds like a good deal, but it should say in the title its a DVI to HDMI cable, not a plain HDMI-HDMI.

You can navigate to the site and there is a HDMI to HDMI cable for 4.95 as well.
      Cheers,

Edit: Even as we speak, the link seems to have been corrected and now points to the HDMI cable.

  • +1

Seems a good deal. The site is also good, and talks about the number of cables in stock.
Can you please let us know the specs to which it complies (e.g. HDMI 1.2, 1.3 , 1.3a etc) ?
I would be interested in buying the cables just for trying them out at this price.
    Cheers,
    Varun

      Hi Varun,

      This is 1.3

  • +1

    Guys, my apologies!
The mistake has been corrected now.

  • +1

    Thanks! Just picked one up.

I like fast, easy, painless and cheap. Just like this.

  • these guys even sell perfumes.

Awesome deal! Cursing my luck as I bought one on Sunday for $8 without gold plating =[

    Picked up 2 anyway =)

    • Gold-plate is only better if your socket is gold. Otherwise it increases the risk of corrosion.

      • Really? I knew that there's no improvement if you don't have gold sockets, but wasn't aware of increased risk of corrosion… how likely is it to cause issues?

      • How-so freddy??
Gold is used for electrical contacts due to it's highly corrosion resistant characteristics.
Please share your knowledge with us so that we're aware of any possible problem…
        \_/7

        • The resistance of modular connectors, adapters and splitters (Motherboards.org):-

On the subject of gold plated contacts: They don't do any good unless they're interfaced with gold plated connectors. In fact, the mating of dissimilar metals is actually more prone to corrosion than if both connectors were tin plated (the typical silver coloured connector).

No chemical or metallurgical expertise myself, but I'm prepared to accept the corrosion claim at face value.

I got one, I think my current HDMI cable is 1.8M so this will be a bit longer… Or exactly the same if mine is already 2M :) Either way, a spare for a future TV. Can't go wrong for the price.

  • After I enter the codem what does this mean?

  • I'd been saying "I'll get one next time they have a promo" for ages, so this time I've jumped at it.
    Ordered 2 x HDMI/HDMI plus 1 x HDMI/DVI.
    Thanks JJBYPC.

    • Now the question is, do you actually need it or is it just an impulse buy..? :) evil laugh

      • "impulse buy" for sure!
I don't use any HDMI connections ATM, but I'm sure I will IDC.

I got my DVI-HDMI cable today… and gave it a test run! Yay! I FINALLY have 1080p@50hz…. live TV is smooth!

(I could only get 1080p@60hz via my VGA cable to my Samsung LCD…. so live TV was always very slightly jerky).

    Awesome buy… very happy indeed.

EDIT - I'm still curious about what standard these cables use. It was said earlier it's 1.3, but the webpage says "Provides up to 5 Gbps per second Audio & Video signals transferring." That's the speed of version 1.2… 1.3 should provide around 10 Gbps.

    • +1

      Anybody? :)

I'm just curious what the spec is, as the specs seem to indicate 1.2, hence the confusion… either way, the cable is working fine, so no complaints whatsoever. I'm just curious. :)

      • Hi JJBYPC.
Can you please give an answer to webbiegareth's question?
I'm interested also, as the packaging/cables are not labelled with the HDMI version compliance.

        Thanks,
        Jean-Luc.
        \_/7

        • +1

          Hi Webbiegareth,

Look on the cable itself, those tiny small writing on the cable specifies the compliance version.

Thank you for this interesting question.

          • @JJBYPC: OK; HDMI 1.3 on the actual cable sheath, similar to the labelling style on UTP LAN cable/flyleads.
            All good; thanks JJBYPC.
