Description copied from previous deals.

The Neato is arguably the best robot vacuum along with the LG Roboking. Unlike the Roomba (aka ping pong), they plot a cleaning pattern. They do however sometimes suffer from build quality issues, but parts are readily available and there is a massive Whirlpool thread for support. Apparently a laptop charger will solve the US to AU power issue.

The Amazon cart price is US$308.87 (updated as per 13th June 2014) including delivery and I used 28 degrees Mastercard exchange rate to convert to $AU which comes to AU$328.94 as of today's rates. If you let Amazon bill you in $AU the price will be some 3 to 4 percent higher around AU$341.

Save your money on the fast shipping as people often receive their order in a week or less - refer to previous comments in posts.

  • great price. got one finally :) thanks ops

    Great find trump3

damn, i just bought Sunbeam EM7000 for $400. Dont know if wife approve another $300+.
i can probably say we will never need to sweep the floor and vacuum the carpet again, which i think we both will appreciate.

    decision…decision….

    • do it. We now pull out the vacuum at most once every month. just really to in the very corners and go over the thick rugs.

  • how often do u need to replace the filter? should we order the filters or parts together?

    • +1

I haven't replaced mine yet and we started using ours in December last year. Probably wise to have one on hand though. After every clean I go into the garage and empty out the catcher into a dustbin then use a paintbrush to clean out the filter ready for the next use.

    • they can be bought on ebay relatively cheaply. I got 2 in an auction for about $8 for both.

Or do the tissue hack. single layer of a tissue on the front of the filter. very little loss in suction (apparently. I haven't tried it).

I keep an old toothbrush next to the rubbish bin to clean mine out every time I empty. and then once a month use the vacuum to clean out the finer dust.

    • I should probably replace mine, guessing it's been at least a year since I got the pet brush and filter upgrade.

I just bang the filter out every empty, sometimes brush it out and every now and again give it a blast with the air compressor. Sure it's not like new but still seems to be doing the job.

  • Mine is coming up at $341. What am I doing wrong?

I used the coupon and chose the cheapest shipping option.

    • +1

Did you get this at check out?

      Items: USD 279.99
      Shipping & handling: USD 53.88
      Your Coupon Savings: -USD 25.00
      Total before tax: USD 308.87
Estimated tax to be collected: USD 0.00
      Order total: USD 308.87

      • do you think we should pay using USD instead of AUD?
I do get that amount 308 if i switch payment using USD
        Thanks

      • I just converted it to USD and it does come up as that. I was using the AUD conversion option.

  • Stupid question but how do you get on live chat with amazon?

  • +1

What happens if the product fails ? Does it have international warranty and we can fix it in Australia ?

  • Thank you, just got my refund for the price difference, very happy :-)

  • Thanks OP been looking to buy one for ages. Just ordered one.

Also been on chat with Amazon rep who said Neato Robotics Australia will cover the warranty for 1 year (I am surprised). She also said it comes with a 30 day return (inc change of mind) policy which is sweet from Amazon (shipping paid by Amazon).

    • +1

I spoke with neato australia, they said they won't cover it. Will need to ship back to neato us.

    • Seriously?! I bought one in Australia for the warranty…..I didn't know they had international warranty!

      • I was also surprised. May be she wasn't fully aware of the policy. Still, at this price I don't mind even if it is not covered by Neato Australia.

    • Looks like it won't be covered under Neato Australia warranty but free return for first 30 days is really good.

      Message From Customer Service

05:24 PM PDT Amazon(Amazon): I have checked the product and the manufacturer isn't providing any warranty but Amazon is providing 30 days return window period if the product is damaged/defective/stop working.
05:25 PM PDT Amazon(Amazon): The 30 days return window will start from the delivery date of the product. We can either replace or refund the item.
05:25 PM PDT Me: does amazon pay for return shipping as well for the first 30 days if the product is faulty
05:26 PM PDT Amazon(Amazon): Yes we will

      • I always thought if the product fails between 1 year period, Amazon will pay for the postage to sent it back for repair. Correct me if I am wrong.

        • +1

All devices ordered from Amazon come with a 1-year manufacturer warranty against mechanical defects:

If you discover your device is defective within the first 30 days after you order, Amazon will replace the device. The service provider is responsible for replacing the device for the following 11 months.

        • Just wondering who will be the service provider in Australia as AUS will not cover the US warranty ?

  • Blood OZBargainers! bought one!

  • +5

" … Save your money on the fast shipping as people often receive their order in a week or less …"

I bloody love Amazon shipping, usually they'll ship to Adelaide faster than items posted in AU. Three days is the best they've done. Think about that. Three days people.

A useful purchase to avoid using an adaptor : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Power-Cord-Lead-3-Pin-CLOVER-AU-E…

  • Good price, but if you read forums you're going to find that this model has very common factory issues which are covered by warranty. I would buy it if I were in US, but with the high failure rate it doesn't seem to be a good idea to buy from Oz

  • Anyone know how much is the product in Australia ? Try to juggle between taking risk of spending $300 and paying higher price for peace of mind.

    • It's about double in Aus.. even if you have to pay to send back for warranty you're still going to be ahead..

      • Thanks

    • It's currently $639 at special at DJs (20% off, reduced from $799) or Myers (who have a policy of always pricematching DJs). If buying local, I'd also very strongly recommend getting an extended warranty - it's cheaper at Myers, $99 for 4 years extra, 5 years total. I know you can argue about ACL consumer warranties and expected product lifetime so forth, but I had the Xv-11 before getting the Xv-21 (very very similar internals), and IMHO, you REALLY want a good hassle-free no-shipping-cost warranty (e.g. Xv-11 broke 3 times in 3 years). Also, I paid with 8 paywave transactions, making it $701 total in real dollars.

So when given the choice between buying local at twice the price, or from amazon, I personally bought local, just because of the warranty issue. As the US price keeps dropping though, the trade-off does get more difficult, and I can completely understand people who haven't had a robotic vacuum before going the cheaper option, especially if they're not sure how useful it will be to them.

      • +1

It really doesn't make sense to buy locally at this price. For roughly the same money, you can buy 2 if you're worried. If one fails, you'll have another ready to go, and not have to wait for repairs. I wouldn't bother spending money on an extended warranty.

        • -4

How does that add up? Buy 2, average lifespan 1 year for each (based on 3 faults in 3 years), gives you 2 years total, for nearly the same cost. For the same price you get 5 years locally guaranteed. So for two vacuums from Amazon you pay 95% of the upfront cost, but the lifespan is only 40% on average (2 years versus 5). Mathematically, it just doesn't add up, on a cost per year basis. If the product rarely failed then it would change things, but this product does fail, speaking from personal experience.

        • If you know the produce will fail within a year just do not buy - regardless how long the warranty is.

        • +3

I don't know, I think you're being a bit pessimistic about the failures..
The problems of the XV-11 are not really an issue with the XV-21, and the battery problems that some had with the XV-21 (the Aussie stock at least) are unlikely to be an issue in the US now as they would have turned over a lot of stock.

My XV-11 did have the spring mount problem like some of the early ones (though that was easy enough to repair myself) but apart from that it is still going strong after 2.5 years.

I'll admit that I'm sceptical of these extended warranties as a lot of time they seem to not be worth anything when it counts, but I don't know anything about the DJs/Myer offerings.

It's worth checking your credit card features also, as some of them include extended warranties of some sort on purchases.

The aussie dollar is probably the biggest variable from my perspective. The XV-21 is most likely going to be cheaper in future (if its still around), so I'd buy one and if it happened to fail a year later, could buy another and still be in front, so long as the dollar isn't too bad.

End of the day, whatever gives peace of mind I guess.

        • ddhytz: But it is a very useful product, the floors are WAY cleaner than they would be if we had to go back to doing it by hand. The problem is that there does not seem to be a close equivalent of similar standard, apart from maybe the LG roboking. And the wife really likes the neato, and it was her call to buy local.

bamzero: good points. Yes, logically you'd buy one, and then buy another only if needed. And one of my credit cards does give an extra year of warranty, but it only applies to purchases from Australia, and probably most credit card extended warranties are the same. The Myers extended warranty has been okay for us - only got it once before, on the wife's laptop, and used it when it refused to turn on when it was 2 years old - they collected it by courier, repaired it after 3 weeks, and returned it, and it kept running for another 2 years before failing due to a bad power connector - so we're ahead on them so far, the trick is separating products with low failure rates (e.g. fridges, most TVs) from those with higher failure rates (laptops, robotic vacuums) - and it seems like generally the newer the product category, and the more moving parts or the more it gets transported, and the longer the desired lifetime, the higher the failure rate. My XV-11 failures were broken wheel spring (yes fixable by myself, but it was under warranty, so preferred to get it repaired officially), RPS error (lidar failure, not fixable by self), and "my wheel is stuck" (possible to fix by self, sometimes). And I don't blame people in the least for buying from Amazon, I'm just saying that it may be worth considering local, and it's not as black and white as it seems.

  • im in sydney, ordered on the 2nd of June and I haven't received it yet. The tracking with i- parcel is not very informative.. amazon says i should receive it by 18th of June.

Others who have received theirs already must be super lucky. Below is the tracking information that is displayed thus far on i-parcel

Exported i-Parcel and in transit to country of destination 2014-06-06T16:02:00-05:00 Los Angeles CA US

Received at i-Parcel 2014-06-05T11:00:40-05:00 Los Angeles CA US

Package details received electronically from Seller 2014-06-02T17:46:04-05:00

    • Same here. Ordered on the 2nd June, shipped on 3rd. Hasn't shown up yet.

i-Parcel tracking wont work in Aus. Our Neato's should show up on Monday fingers crossed.

      • ordered mine on the 1st and had it delivered a couple days ago (SA) so id think yours both should be within the next working day or 2 (today or monday)

  • Does anyone but additional filters etc as well ? Or it is cheaper to buy in AUS ?

  • Thank you sir… I have always wanted but never bought one. Soon as I saw it, I knew it was a great deal and jumped straight into it.

I have a carpeted apartment with a shaggy carpet and tiles plus a pretty complex arrangement so would be good seeing how well this thing works :)

Price in AU if someone wants to know is roughly 700.

  • I have never heard of this Brand, how does it compare to the Samsung & LG ones?

    • Samsung no. Lg Roboking is the only true competitor. Both are smart. LG has 2 year local warranty. LG has side brushes. LG is quiet. Neato is slightly more powerful and better on carpets.

  • Mine keeps coming up as $241??

    Am I doing something wrong

    • +5

Sounds like you're doing something right. Share the secret

      • you mean $341 (which is AU$ checkout price)?

        • Oops Lol yeah $341 why can't I get it to 328

        • The Amazon cart price is US$308.87 (updated as per 13th June 2014) including delivery and I used 28 degrees Mastercard exchange rate to convert to $AU which comes to AU$328.94 as of today's rates. If you let Amazon bill you in $AU the price will be some 3 to 4 percent higher around AU$341.

IMO the heading price should be the "real" price, then mention they used a further mastercard discount to stop confusion. unless you have a 28 degree card or some other way of getting a further discount its $341, still a damn good deal at that price. loving mine.

  • Thanks, got my $19.01 Refund!

  • Got a refund too thanks.

  • Anyone knows if we need to buy a converter to convert electricity voltage to our standard ?

    • +1

      dont need

its got a laptop charger inside it, you can just unplug the US cord and plug in an aus one, or the usual cheap converters…. or do what i did and pliers mod the pins to suit our plugs…

      • cheers

  • ordered friday arvo. deliver today morning in Adelaide. That was quick from Amazon:)

    • Do u mean you have received the vacuum this morning ?

  • That is a quick delivery. Did u chose express shipping or standard one ?

    • Standard

      • Wow, that is a real quick delivery.

  • Just got the vacuum today. I only have 1 filter in the system whilst the box said 2 filters. The charging time is only 15 mins and running time is 25 mins. It doesn't sound right. Anybody has the same experience?

    • I presume you selected new battery as per the instructions? If you did it doesn't sound right.

      • Also there is no option in any settings I can see to select new battery?

        • In the upper menu select 'Support' and new battery is second last in the support list. I recall the instructions mentioned to do this, but it may have changed I guess.

        • I may missed reading the battery instruction. I emailed Amazon about the problem and they straight away asked me if I want a refund or a replacement. They have sent the replacement without any charge and I will return the first one to them. They will reimburse the return postage. I did the reset battery thing for the second unit, after I charged it. Still in testing. Will see how it goes.

    • I am having the same issue… Got it out of the box on Friday, charged it for 5 hours or more then tried it and within 10mins it was looking for its station to charge…. I have been using it today and longest it ran befor looking for the charging station was 20mins but usually 5 or 10 mins. I mean it works great but the barttery time is really bad. I have since messaged Neato on Facebook to see what they say. Let me know if you have any luck.

      • I think this is how Neato works. Working for 15 mins then charged for about half hour. Then work for more than 45 mins before going back for charging. Probably the first scanning needs a lot of energy of the battery ? Well, at least the room is now vacuumed completely and I am hardly vacuuming using my normal vacuum cleaner, at least not for another 3-4 weeks or until the side wall collecting dust. Quite happy with the vacuum.

  • Hi Guys,

I am having issues with the Neato. It does not return to base station when battery is low.
    Anyone else experience this?
Has anyone changed the SW version?

  • guys i want to return the product as it seems defective after several attempts. Amazon are saying i need to pay for shipping.

    Is this right?
I thought they provided 30 days free shipping.

    • I have just returned my first Neato to Amazon and Aust Post charged around $212 and Amazon directly refund the post ! Wow, what an amazing customer experience. Never hesitate to shop with them in the future.

      • I downgraded mine to version 3.0 and it has not missed a beat.
Fingers crossed I don't have to send it back.

        • Where did you find the firmware 3.0?

        • Neato website.

        • Could not find V3.0, only V3.1.
I believe (I'm at work) my machine has V3.2 which is not on their website either.

  • Auspost reckons $150 AUD to send it :(
