Not bad at all considering one of the only other AU shops stocking this (http://www.mediaplayersandmore.com.au/hdx1000-networked-medi…) is charging $349 for the HDX 1000 plus 139 for a 1TB harddrive and then add postage on top!.

Limited to 20 for shipping on August 10th - I've just put an order in for a black one :)

My first post, so be nice :)

  • No affiliation at all..

Have been searching around for a networked media player for a month or so now and this is the best one functionality and cost wise I've found.

The promo code is publicly available on facebook.

    Cheers

    • Thanks for the clarification agrima350z.

  • Hi TeaEarlGreyHot, how does this compare to WD HD TV Player? thank you

    • Hi dan04ben06.
I'll flick this one to agrima350z, as I haven't used either.
      agrima350z, over to you…

    • The HDX 1000 has a more comprehensive file format support list. It has higher quality outputs (hdmi etc). Its capable of streaming more formats (wireless adapter required). Runs at cooler temperatures. better user interface and support for internal harddrives.

  • This is a great deal with a 1Tb
I have a eGreat EG-M34A which has the same Sigma CPU/DSP & Based on the same operating system NMT
mine worked out a bit cheaper $235 + $118 for the 1TB,(I already had a spare USB 3.5 enclosure) I seriously cant fault it except for not playing DTS-HD Audio through my TV & no coax digital out. From what I understand the HDX1000 has a more polished interface and is capable of playing Blu-ray ISO files (for people who cant work out MakeMKV), if they had this deal when I bought mine I would have grabbed this instead.
Main difference between this and The WDHD is you can mount a Hard drive internally, You have far better media support & the homebrew addons (Like media library managers, skins, youtube & web players, you can add via the MNT community)

Perhaps you could tell us some cheaper alternatives?

Too expensive when compared to what?

EGreat EG-M34A @ $235 same CPU, same features ($219 with free shipping for OCAU members, see forums)
Can mount a HDD External (has sata & power connector out the side) or USB (neater)
Also based on the popcornhour style NMT OS

    See comparison with WDHD

  • As the rep for Eljo, i would like to point out that another major difference between the HDX1000 and the WD TV is that the HDX1000 is a Network Media Player. This therefore allows you to stream multimedia from other places on your home network. This is to go with those already mentioned (i.e. better format support, ability to mount internal hdd, etc)

Also, for anyone looking into the eGreat range, i believe we are the most reasonably priced on those as well. (about to make a new listing for them…).
