Up Plus 2 3D Printer with a BONUS up Mini ($2000 Inc. Shipping)

40

I personally have never owned a 3D printer although I hear good things about this one and you get a printer which costs about 700$ at no extra cost.

As written on the site this has a heated build platform (@100 degrees C).

According to this thread: http://www.pp3dp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=25620
Any 1.75mm ABS/PLA should theoretically work, some have had issues with print quality however due to only two temperature settings (200, and 260 degrees) which is easily adjustable with a hack/mod (though I think that's just being picky :P)

  • think that might be a pricing error…. USD price is US$2,242.50 and the NZD price is even higher

the Plus 2 by itself is sold by various places for around 1700 USD

EDIT: oh… an Aussie reseller? makes more sense then. Be aware that many of their products are advertised excluding GST

  • I am pretty sure this is the same deal they had advertised at CeBit expo

We have 3 units of Up, they got reset when you touch the metal part. Also the non heated platform causes material to curl.

    • This shouldn't be an issue any more, this model has a heated bed.

  • Is this unit able to use third-party filament, or is it limited to filament sold by the manufacturer?

It looks like a 1kg filament roll on the side of the unit, but is there some DRM-like mechanism to lock out non-genuine filaments?

Russ, as far as I know, you can use 3rd party material.

      • Wow, that puts it in a much better class then. I'm so tired of printers (both 2D and 3D) with expensive consumables.

The 3D printer where I work goes through about $200 of "genuine" filament to produce something the size of a largish ashtray, when I can get 1kg reels of filament from DX (and other sources) for about $50.

  • That price from 3dprintingsystems excludes GST and shipping.

I bought this deal last week from a dealer in Parramatta Sydney for a similar price. The unit is shipped directly from the warehouse in NZ. It makes sense to buy this from a local distributor so you can go to them if you have any problems.

The cheapest price I found online is from https://www.3dprintergear.com.au/up/29-up-3d-plus-2-printer.…
    at $2,159 delivered

Good deal tho. I haven't tried mine yet but quality of the parts displayed at the shop look good.

  • I've got one of the Up! Plus 2's. It's good. Printed a fair bit and no issues. Looks like a great deal to me. Think i paid over $2000 just for the Up! Plus 2 delivered.

  • hmm i got mine from cadshop.com.au a few months ago, looks like they have rebranded and up'ed the price.

I paid just $1849 inc delivery back in late april.

one downside of this printer is that you can't adjust the temperature of the extruder via the supplied software, you need to hack it by introducing an external mod, which means it may not be compatible with some aftermarket filaments.

i'm using the aftermarket stuff from BilbyCNC now and it has a lower recommended print temp, which means when put through the UP, it comes out a bit more runny, but still maintains the shape
