  • OW doesn't have these in store, does price match work on their web site?

    • Just call them on 1300 OFFICE (633 423) and order them over the phone.

  • +4

I bought 2 pairs of the RS160 listed here a little while back, and they have great sound, but quite odd functionality:

With both headsets connected, you lose the ability to individually control the volume. One volume button for both headsets.

There is one single multi function button (MFB) for everything including on/off mute/unmute pair/unpair.

As a result, you won't know for sure when they are off as opposed to muted. My kids regularly manage to unpair them - partially due to a 5-10 second "lag" in switching them on (i.e. it takes a long time for the sound to begin after switch-on).

Amazingly unintuitive design by Sennheiser on the RS 160. I also have 2 pairs of the RS120, and they are very easy to use. They even have a rotary dial for volume (unlike the RS160), which makes for ease of use, speed and accuracy in volume control instead of fiddling with tiny buttons all located right next to each other.

You Sir get a +1. This was exactly the information/review i was looking for! Googling the RS120 right now :D

      • Trouble is that the 120s have inferior sound quality :(

        • Yes, the sound quality on the 120 is not as good. I use them only for TV, so not a big deal to me. The RS120 are also not circumaural. That doesn't bother me at all as I like to have a chat to my fellow tv watcher.

It's a bit of a pain when using the RS170/160 as they block out ambient sound (and chat) to a much greater extent.

  • "system comprises of a pair of wireless headphones"
So we get two headphones for use by 2 people, right?

    • No. One pair per person. Unless you wanna take turns :)

  • cheapest place to buy another headphone? Already have headphone+base unit

    • I bought the headphone+base unit at eglobal couple days ago, and they were offering the headphone for $99 I think.

      • Thanks, can't buy it separately. Might email them.

        • Should be able to buy separately. Search for HDR 170 on their site. I managed to add that separately to my cart

Don't forget there's a $5 voucher code floating around as well. Can't remember what is is now, but I used it just a few days ago
