There's no global warranty in that Apple is obliged to service your iPad - "Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device."     Ipad air 32gb is $700? How is this more than normal ipad unless you are referring to the 4th gen ipad?

        The specs for iPad mini with retina display is equivalent to iPad air except for the screen size. I don't think it is a fair comparison.

  But only for one year.
  However purchasing Australian stock will mean that Apple will honour Australian Consumer Law and fix any problems for a minimum of 24 months. I think this is a big deal and it would take a really low price (like another $50 lower than this price) for me to purchase overseas stock.
  I just had the screen replaced on 23 month old MacBook Pro without much hassle.

    Any proof on whether it matters where it is purchased from? Pretty sure it still applies as long as it is serviced within Australia, as Apple never ask for proof of purchase unless warranty details are not on the system.

      The Serial Number reveals the country of first sale.

      Apple Australia will support the warranty on Wi-Fi only iPads first sold/supplied in Hong Kong etc. However, for only one year - not the two years of Australian market iPads.
