Missed out on today's Dick Smith 12% coupon stacking, decided to check out other options.
David Jones is having the same 10% discount as Dick Smith for MacBooks.
At the same time, David Jones is having a promotion if you apply for their Amex Card in store, you get 10% off.

So if you're buying this weekend, combine discount will be 19%. If travelling, you'll claim another 10% at the airport.

MacBook Air 13" 4GB/128GB comes to $971. Not as good as the Dick Smith deal but this is not a loop hole.
Drawback - In store only.

Make sure to request for the newer model. The store I went (Bourke Street) only have the 2013 model on display but they had the 2014 model in store.

    Does the 10% + 10% = 20%?

    Wouldn't you get 10% off the sale price (which is 90% of the normal price)

      19% actually because the first 10% bring it down to 90%, and the second 10% bring the 90% down to 81%

          And the GST only gets you 9.09%.
          Incidentally, laws have changed and you can now claim items you bought within 60 days of flying, as opposed to 30 days before.

    Take note that the second 10% discount is only valid with an instant application, and you get the additional discount on the day of the instant application only. And for those of you that don't wish you make an Amex card, you can also make a David Jones storecard, which has no yearly fee, but can only be used at David Jones only.

    OP, can you tell me how you came to $971 as my calculation of 19% off the price listed on the DJ website of $1249 comes to $1011.69? Admittedly my maths skills is questionable. Or I could be looking at the wrong model. Thanks!

        Is the 1079 already discounted wth the 10%? Does that mean if ones then applied for an amex david jones card, it comes down to $873.99?

        ETA also apparently if you apply for the store card instead of the amex you may not be able to buy the $1079 macbook since:

        "Offer available on purchases of up to $1,000 on the David Jones Storecard and up to $2,000 on a David Jones American Express Card or David Jones American Express Platinum Card."

          yeah 1079 is already discounted, the other 10% (cards) is only available till today.
