  Thanks. tried a few freeware programs, hopefully this is better.

  Update: uninstalled in record time. No malware / bloatware etc but it's very basic and did not do what I wanted it to do which was strip multi-channel audio from a dvd chapter by chapter.

    have you tried to use Mkvmerge to remove unwanted audio streams? http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix

      Thanks , i've grabbed that from your link, always after new video software.

      But what i'm also after is something that just spits out the audio from multi-channel music dvds so I can play back just the audio. so i want to point to a dvd and click "save the dts soundtrack, song by song." i will keep looking but happy to hear suggestions.
