  • These wer about $800 when I looked locally a while back, so $500 is a great price

Might be worth mentioning this uses a standard IEC power cable (computer power cable) so no need to buy a AU Power adapter.

    • +1

Not quite same as PC it uses a non earthed plug same shape size just no earth wire.

      • +1

As you say it's the same size/shape so you could use a standard PC cable if you wanted (or you can go get one without an earth pin if you're feeling special) :)

What about a monster $250 iec lead?

        • Only if it's HDMI 1.4a compatible want to make sure they don't clash :)

  • I'm struggling to choose between this and the str1040.

I have a Sony w900 so ideally the Sony as it'll link well and will auto negotiate with the ps3/ps4 but the Denon gets awesome reviews as well as Sony.

  • Damn, great price, the new Denon receivers were just announced so probably to clear the old stock. Now to work out if any of the features on the new receivers are worth paying more for.

  • Great to see that the removal of VAT virtually covers the shipping.

Very tempted although not sure I can justify.

  • Great price - just bought it!

Seems pretty damn cheap. I just got an RX-V1075 for like $1200 and this thing doesn't sound that much worse for significantly less, assuming the DACs and stuff are half decent. Denon normally not shabby though
EDIT: wait, import from UK? .mmmmmmm well definitely a risk :/

Brilliant price…very well spotted. Wish I could get this one past the missus…

  • Says can't deliver to Australia.
    ??

    • Same here even after adding to cart.
Perhaps the units sold by Amazon have been taken.

  • What happens if it's DOA? Do you have to pay return shipping?

  • This is the entry level and the price on this dropped in the UK market but sadly not here.
Compared to current/previous OZ prices this is a great deal for a branded entry level 7.1 system.

  • This might be a stupid question, but I currently have a Samsung HTIB (HT-E5550W or something). Could I buy this to replace the current receiver, and then strip the speaker wires to connect to the Denon? The thinking being then that I'll upgrade the speakers at a later date.

(Might be able to slip this past the missus rather than hitting her up with a quote of thousands of $$$ to replace our entire HT setup in one go…)

You may end up blowing up the Samsung speakers. I'd rather go about it the other way, and get better speakers first. The speakers that come with those kind of systems are extremely poor. If you upgrade the speakers, the difference should be phenomenal. More so than upgrading the receiver (the speakers are so cheaply made you probably can't tell the difference of connecting a good receiver).
Have a look at Amazon US. They sell many good quality speakers cheaply and ship to Australia. Some great JBL speakers out there. But be mindful that the subs won't work here (wrong voltage).

Marked as expired as it no longer offers shipping to Australia.

    • Wonder if the international shipping was a mistake by the third party seller and they'll cancel all the orders?. A lot of third party sellers on Amazon UK will not ship international.

      • Not necessarily. Amazon can appear very random about whether they ship something overseas. For some things it varies by the day. I remember this was the case with the Nespresso Citiz. I do not think it was a mistake.

Damn, I hate work making me miss out on bargains!

    • Don't worry I think the orders might get cancelled

      • +1

No they won't this is the second one I have purchased. amazon have sold out they had 8 units left when I purchased. you now get linked to one of the other sellers even tho says fulfilled by amazon it's sold by home av direct. I have it in my camelcamelcamel so will post when back for those that missed out.

  • Cool it is here http://homeavdirect.co.uk/denon-avr-x2000-av-surround-reciev… for £1 more, will have to wait till I get home to see if they allow shipping internationally.

    • I'll save you the trouble ;-) Just tried it - they only ship to UK and other European countries (on request of quote).

      • damn!

  • Damn, good deal. Didn't have the cash for it but would like to upgrade to a newer 7.1 system!

  • +5

Just got even better just got this email

"As we were unable to meet our delivery date promise, we are refunding the delivery charges for your entire order"

Now comes out to about $380

    • Absolute bargain. Although i wonder how you'll get on for warranty. Do these have international warranty or you need to send it all the way back to Amazon UK?. That would be a very costly exercise knowing how much Australia Post charges for international parcels.

  • guys.. any other good receiver deals?? doesn't have to be local

JB had the Pioneer VSX528 for $397 a couple of weeks ago but it's back to $699. It was as low as $347 in xmas though.

  • Found a reasonable deal on eBay for this model:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Denon-AVR-X2000-7-1-Channel-4K-Ul…

    • US. Therefore probably 110V?
