Autobarn: Exelite H4 60/55w Headlight Halogen Bulb Globes, 2 for $9.99

30

Seems like a good deal to me. Couple weeks ago I got 2 from Repco, Repco brand for $13

Not sure of quality, anyone? The only cheaper option I can find is eBay ones shipped from China.

Anyone knows if these globes / bulbs have a shelf life? I kinda want to buy this for my 'just in case' box, but no point if 3 years later I need them and they are dead.

Happy motoring!

  • RE: shelf life - very dependent on quality. The coil inside can rust if built very poorly - which considering the price, I wouldn't be surprised…

How could the coil rust? The bulbs are sealed with gas inside.

The gas inside is inactive. Eg Argon. You need oxygen to rust.

  • Anyone with experience with this brand Exelite?

  • Yeah I doubt they have a shelf life. These will fire up in 50 years just fine, provided they dont get broken. I dont like cheap globes, but as spares in the glove box its better than many servo globes (Austa, sometimes Repco brand), or nothing. But the problem is once you fit it in the emergency situation, how likely are you to change them to good ones? And now its not a spare, its the headlight you drive with all the time.

Given price, Id guess they ae not real good. Repco ones arent great either.

They would be fine. Fully nowadays there'd be hardly any difference. The complete wiper blade replacements are also good for 7.99. I paid this for just blade only replacements on Sunday…

  • They are ok, but why would you when you can pay $27, and get those Osram night breakers which are probably the best globes ( from the bargain posted the other day) and use your old globes as spares. That's the way to go for sure.

Wiper blades on the other hand are very good for $7.99

Once you used a globe, then its clock starts ticking I think? Just a matter of time before they die.. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for recommending OSram

  • Those ozram night breakers reckon 90% more light than a standard bulb. Pretty good if true.
