  Well this post is relevant twice in 24 hours.

  "Buy Max Payne and don't believe the internet whiners.
  It's a very single player focused game with very good presentation.
  It's NOT for multiplayer and there are a lot of cutscenes.
  Like Uncharted the combat isn't as good as the story/ how it's told - but it's more than servicable (but not as good as Uncharted)

  It surprisingly has a Max Payne feel to it, retaining the voice actor was key.
  Really enjoyed it on my PS3, one or two frustrating levels - but I purchased it on Steam as well to let Rockstar know it wasn't as bad as the reviewers tried to make out."

    Compared to the dark gritty noir plot of the first two games, I found this one extremely disappointing. I really didn't care about the brazilian dudes, or the girl you're out to rescue. The bright sunny setting also isn't very Max Payne. I just didn't care for the characters, and I'd rather the plot be all about Max.

    In MP1 you're a police officer that's been framed, and now both the mob and the police are after you, and you do end up needing to kill other police officers. Made me really want to see how he gets out of this one.. Number 2 he finds a new love interest, but again he finds people turning on him, his boss namely, who he later has to kill. Consequences. He has nothing to lose, once again.

    MP3, he's taken up jobs as a bodyguard. Some girl he was supposed to protect gets kidnapped, and he fails. He has to go and save her. This felt more like an action movie, less personal than the first two, which were film noir and grittier. The guys you kill are just your typical action movie mooks, not people of consequence.

    It's still a decent game, but you can tell it was made by a different developer.
