Great keyboard. I got mine from COTD deal the other day around same price

      • I had it reviewed + still using it as my main keyboard at the moment. Keys are little bit quieter/softer than the usual mechanical (Black Cherry MX) and I really love the Rocker volume control

If you like how the keys are laid out on the Ergo then I probably wouldn't bother. Just go to a Dick Smith or almost any other electronic store that has games, they'll most likely have this keyboard on display.

PCCG also still has the Black and Red keyboards for $69 PP

        • Cheers for this mate! Been eyeing the red for a while.

        • Thats a great price for a red with partial backlight, havnt seen anything that comes close to that in value

Using a CM quickfire TM red for awhile, its been a good keyboard for the price

I've still got my old Microsoft Ergonomic 4000, how is the Logitech better ?

Sounds like you're a bit too old to be going near anything that has the words "Gaming" on it.

      • JV you literally makes me rofl sometimes

      • If you have to ask, then for you it probably won't make any difference. It makes a big different over a standard keyboard for gaming, hence the 'gaming' in its name.

However, like most of your comments, I'm guessing you just made it to be facetious.

I still don't understand why I got the neg :(

The G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is a good companion for this. $55 with free postage. I ordered my 3rd one yesterday. I have one for every computer now. :p

I don't need this keyboard but I really want one at this price…. very tempting.

    • Oh hey, might want to mention this also.
      http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-gaming-keyboard-g510…

$75!!! Great keyboard too. I use one on my gaming rig. Couldn't be happier with it. It's not mechanical but it's still really nice to use.

      • I have one, good keyboard but I'm finding the macro keys annoying as I don't use any… also if you get one download the Aida 64 extreme to use the LCD panel for temp monitoring and CPU/ram usage… quite useful… coming from a small keyboard it took me several hours on BF4 to get use to it… I paid 64 on mine from DSE… it was the last one few months ago… its probably discontinued or being discontinued..

      • Eh, not sure why you would pay 75 on a membrane kb, when you can get a mech for 70$

    • Do you find the scroll wheel goes squeaky after a couple of months use for that mouse?

      • Nope. Been using one for over a year and it feels the same as the one I bought 6 months ago.

        • +1

Cool cheers. I don't know anyone else with one but my scroll wheel has starting squeaking. It truly is a mouse now.

    • Addendum to Modtang's post. I got this keyboard last week and got myself the brand new G502 mouse for non MMO gaming. The G502 is very nice. Only con is the metal scroll wheel — too slippery for my dry fingers and the scrolling action is very chunky. Everything else about the mouse is excellent.

Got it for $120 from Dick Smith recently. Love it and I love the USB pass through functionality.

  • I have both the G600 and the G710+ and like them both. The only negatives about the keyboard are that:
    1) It does have a cheap plastic feel to it although it is solidly built.
    2) I find the keys a little too compressed. They're slightly narrower than a lot of other keyboards and it will take some time to get used to typing on it.
    3) Not a big one, but the LED lighting is only white and the colours can't be changed. LED lighting can be controlled for the WSAD and arrow keys with one button (4 levels of brightness) and the rest of the KB with another button. Some keyboards allow different colour LEDs (I think) and LED programming although I can imagine this would be considerably more expensive.

All over it is a good keyboard and well worth the $120 I paid for it at DSE during the 40% off sale. The media controls and macros are great and it's very solid so doesn't move.

You can try something like these https://www.massdrop.com/buy/led-color-changer?mode=guest_op…

Not sure where to get them from though

      • Interesting, good to know - I might give it a go when a deal comes up. The G600 Mouse has LEDs that can change colour (the can pulsate etc). It would be cool if the KB could do this too but I know it's asking too much for a $120 KB.

I painted my ASDW keys with bright nail polisher.. cheap and effective mod haha

        • +1

LOL lucas001. I was going to suggest nail polish as well but clear colour polish and painted on the LEDs directly :)

Bentan77's suggestion gave me an idea. I might mod my g710's LEDs with bits of cellophane and easy-to-remove PVA glue in case I want to change colours in the future.

What happened to all the good old Logitech Shop mega sales? :(

    • +1

Yeah used to buy heaps of stuff! No more now!

  • I wish it came with red keys

  • It's an excellent keyboard as it gives you the mechanical keyboard feel with the functionality of a logitech keyboard. Also has o-rings which significantly reduces the noise.

    • I think the o-rings are the reason for so many keycaps breaking on the G710+. The o-rings prevent the keycaps from fully interlocking with the Cherry MX stems. and with only the tip of the keycaps interlocked with the stem, any angle presses of the keycaps will put more forces on the keycap plastic than it was designed for.

  • I have a g15 that I bought years ago that still serves me well. However, I'm interested in getting a mechanical keyboard after hearing many people rave about them.
Is the upgrade worth it at this time? Or should I wait until my g15 dies first?
I've never used a mechanical keyboard so not sure what to do.

    • I have a G15 I bought in 2006…still going strong, just the display light dimmed a little bit. Now use it as the keyboard for my other PC and have a G19 for the main pc since 2010. Don't think my G15 is going to die any time soon. :|
So, if you want to buy this keyboard, don't wait till your G15 dies. :P

    • I switched from a G15 (2nd gen; orange backlight) to a G710+, and I miss absolutely nothing about the G15. The LCD is a gimmick and I barely used it aside from displaying FPS or hardware usage while gaming (looking at the LCD during multiplayer FPS gaming doesn't really make much sense).

I've never heard of anyone going from a rubber dome to a mechanical and then back again, and that's for good reason.

A mechanical is just so much more satisfying to use and the key presses feel so much more accurate.

I especially favour the Cherry Brown switches in the G710+ as they're basically a happy compromise between Cherry Reds and Cherry Blues; Browns have less of a mechanical click noise, though it'll still be very noticeable if you've never owned a mechanical keyboard before and their key actuation pressure is less than the Blue and same as the Reds, though browns have a "tactile bump", which makes them feel stiffer and less prone to accidental key presses.

You'll know right away when you pick up a G710+ that it's unlike any of Logitech's woeful rubber dome keyboards; it's built solid, heavy and feels like quality.

Unless you have some pressing need for the 54 macro keys (assuming you have a first-gen G15) or the LCD display, then the G710+ is in no way, shape or form a step down. You still get 18 macro keys on the G710+ (6 macro keys x 3 profile keys), which should be more than enough for everyone but full-time MMO players.

Very good youtube review of the G710+ here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8qZxx00axE

  • Out of stock. Drat. I wanted one.

    • Grab a Das or Ducky. You will like it more. Just Bought a Das Pro 4 today after my BlackWidow Ultimate had an incident with a large meat pie.

      • Or a Corsair K70 if you're not interested in macros.

      • I don't know why, but the 'large meat pie' made me laugh ;)

      • Thanks mate, just bought a Das Pro 4, cant go Ultimate as I cant remember the keys!

My Azio Levetron Mech5 was quite clanky with the Cherry MX Black switches and just out of luck developed a loose connection at its right-hand side keypad. Sent it back to mwave for warranty. Looked up Logitech shop on ebay and stumbled upon this nice deal, didn't hesitate much. Can't wait to get my hands on this! :)

    • What's the build quality like on those Levetrons? Did you actually find the moveable D-Pad useful?
