It's a usb printer, also i like printers with a duplexer. Otherwise i would have bought this and given it a go for sure.

Bargain. These genuine Kyocera TK01119 toner cartridges alone are going for about $70 each (http://www.inkstation.com.au/1-genuine-kyocera-tk1119-black-…) and this printer bundle comes with two toner cartridges. The 10 realms of paper too must be worth at least $40. So the two toner cartridges and A4 Copy paper must add up to about $180 to buy separately and you also get a brand new laser printer in this pack. Amazing buy this printer pack is.

  • Delivery seems cheap considering it looks heavy/bulky.

  • The posty will hate delivering this.

Maybe they'll use couriers (cough) please.

    • At least nobody is likely to steal it after they have dumped it on your front porch with no indication. Then again, they might card you.

  • The toner they give you is stingy. I have a Kyocera printer from years ago and it gives 6,000 page yield (at 5% coverage). I can't even pull up decent info on part number of the toner they give you, but 1,600 pages is pretty weak.

    • This one's a cheaper model with a smaller toner cartridge.

      • Yes, it sounds like a 'starter' model for sure. I eventually found it by omitting the zero in the description. TK-1119

1,600 pages is like a slap in the face but I guess the price is decent.

  • can you scan to a usb stick or is it straight to pc ?

  • Does it take generic cartridges?

    • I looked it up and this model takes TK-174 (7200 page yield), and there seem to be TK-174 compatibles on ebay for cheap. Safe to say it does, I think.

      • On second thoughts….it just takes TK-1119. So it seems it was designed to make money for Kyocera with that low yield. I was confusing this model with another one with very similar name.

    Pity no network interface.

    • looks like its got 10/100 wired ?

      • Only in some reviews which must be for a slightly different model. The specs on the official page at the Kyocera site shows USB only.

    • I agree, that's the main reason why I personally wouldn't buy this printer due to the missing network share access.

Sure, if you have a router with a USB slot I'm sure you could set it up to be a network printer if your on a budget.

  • Interesting that apart from this particular one, they don't seem to stock any other Kyocera model.
I'm tempted by this offer, seriously thinking about getting it. It'd be used just for occasional printing, maybe scan and fax if ever needed.

    • And, you'll have paper to last for years!

    • Do turn it off when not in use. I tried to look for idle power specs and couldn't find any but I think there are at least a few watts involved so if left on 24/7, adds up to tens of dollars a year.

      • 3watt idle

      • Yeah considering how much we print, that amount of paper would last us a decade, easily.

Thanks for the tip. Not sure how much that would bother me since our computer is on 24x7 anyway. Turning it on and off all the time could potentially harm it more than leaving it on so in the long run, paying a tiny bit extra electricity might not be so bad compared to the cost of a new printer.

I've been using Kyocera FS-2000D and a few other models for years and never had any problems with it, hence why I'm quite open to Kyocera as a brand.

EDIT: CNET review seems to think that it is quite a decent printer.

        • I use my PC everyday and turn it off everyday and my PC is five years old now. If you PC is not in sleep mode, the electricity cost is huge.

  • Thanks. Bought one. Hope it is good.

    :)

    • That site is wrong but it's also the European web site. Mac OS X 10.5 or higher is supported with a driver. It's on the Australian site driver page.

      http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.com.au/support/Pages/Dow…

So Mac OS X and Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 8 and Windows Server users are all supported. The drivers are all there. Sorry as for Linux users it looks like there's no direct Linux driver support for them.

  • The ordering doesn't seem to work. Clicking on the "Buy" button does noting in both Safari and Chrome.

    • I just tried it in Comodo Dragon (Chromium based browser). All that happens when you click the Buy button is that the system puts it into your checkout behind the scene. Check up on the top left right next to the telephone number is there a My Cart with the item $ value next to it with Checkout right next to that?. That's what you need to go to now is click on Checkout and should be able to go on from there.

  • Did any one try to buy this bundle?

I did sale went through on Paypal received confirmation from Cnet 3 days go by and nothing should have been sent 24 hrs after payment.
Shot off an email next day I receive reply:

This is in regards to your Kyocera Bundle Order. It's not our favourite news to share, but as it turns out, this order was lost in transit. I can understand this can be frustrating. The supplier does not have any replacements to send out so we have processed a refund for you. $162.18 will be applied to your transaction card within three to five business days (quick to take slow to pay back).

I can't work out the lost in transit bit, item listed in stock but obviously not all seems a lot dodgy to me.
