About Dr Phil:

Dr. Phil is bringing his live show to Australia in August for the first time. Dr. Phil McGraw has galvanized millions of people to "get real" about their own behavior and create more positive lives. “DR. PHIL”, his syndicated, daily one-hour series, is the second highest-rated daytime talk show in the USA. The show has been making headlines and breaking records since its September 2002 launch.

Dr. Phil is also the author of six #1 New York Times bestsellers, including his latest book, Real Life: Preparing for the 7 Most Challenging Days of Your Life, which gives readers a solid plan on how to cope with the most demanding days in their lives.

Dr. Phil holds a B.A. from Midwestern State University (Texas, USA) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from North Texas State University with a dual area of emphasis in clinical and behavioral medicine.

At the show, you will learn some of Dr. Phil’s break-through strategies to improve your career, finances, health and personal life. He will challenge you to set new goals and commit you to take action, at the same time giving you the strategy to succeed and achieve your full potential. He will flood you with inspiration and motivation, giving you the power to implement his strategies immediately for your success. Don’t miss this life changing event!

  • yes go see him and be amongst the housewive audiences.

    • what is a housewive?

      • Something like a housewolve.

it is cheap, but is it worth it?

As the simpsons said "Why pay for something you can watch on tv for free" :P

    • Cheap? Hmm, well I believe in the USA his show is free (and occasionally he even has freebies for all the audience), so would I call it cheap, nope (its obviously cheaper then the price they want to normally charge to see him in Australia but that just means the normal price (to me) is expensive). Some of the seats wouldn't have not a very good view from looking at the seating diagrams.

Looking at Ticketek for the Sydney show has all the Platinum, A & B reserve sold out, so maybe there going "cheap" as there not actually wanted

      • Cheap if you wanted to go.

But I think most of us don't.

Don’t get me wrong, I love his show and I’m all for people making money but cmon now. Tickets to hear him speak start at $89 and go up to $289 for a floor ticket at Rod Laver Arena. Just to give perspective, AC/DC, one of the most sought after tickets this year went for $149.

    From the description on Ticketek,

“He will flood you with inspiration and motivation, giving you the power to implement his strategies immediately for your success. You will learn some of Dr. Phil’s break-through strategies to improve your career, finances, health, and personal life,”

Charging $289 for a ticket is certainly a break-through strategy.

  • There are books (by him, his son or his wife) to buy if someone likes him that much. The books would probably be more in depth also.

  • I'd hate to be one of those people that bought tix for $289.

you'd hate to be dumb and gullible? wow…

    • $289 are for the Platinum Floor seating at the Rod Laver Arena. The tickets that COTD are selling are $69 for C reserve tickets (normally $119 plus $4.95 transaction charge plus $7.20 to either pick up the tickets at the venue or for regular mail (well for Sydney event anyway)).

  • No thanks, I'm going to stay at home just so I don't get defamed by him like a friend of mine did! Wouldn't waste my money to see this crack-pot

    • +1

      defamed?! Tell us more! ^_^

    • your friend was defamed by paying money to see this crack pot. haha

    • Do you mean defrauded?

    • My friend was actually featured on the show in a short clip without his permission (he is actually a celebrity) and basically, this crack-pot told all of america that my friend was suffering from a psychiatric disorder when in-fact, he doesn't at all and is rather 'on top of it'.

      • Hmmm, now I'm curious. An Aussie male celebrity who Dr. Phil/America would know who has had a controversial film clip. My guess is Russell Crowe but I'll put my wildcard as Hasselhoff when he was drunk eating a burger.

    worst deal ever.

  • He might tell us to write a book and flog it to others for $$ on the seminar circuit like the others do ;-)
Dr. Phil can you help me with my addiction to CoTD? Oh hang on… ;-)

  • In the words of Dr Phil himself, "I'd rather hug a buzz saw!"

  • IF you were going to see him, this is a VERY good deal.

    If you weren't, don't bother.

Dr Phil is the Mussolini of the Psychology world - convinced of his own genius, sadly let down in reality. Good salesman though.

    • Just noticed this thread. This comment is pure win :)

  • This probably means that none of his shows have sold out and there are still plenty of tickes available. They'll probably be also makeing money by flogging all his merchandise and books as well for rrp.

who the hell posts some tinpot yank hack? what a tosser.

    • +1

who the hell replies sounding like a tinpot yank hillbilly. What a tosser.

Oh wait. I guess he was trying to relate to the audiences of Dr Phil.
