Christ, that seems a bit much!

Has it always been that much or did they increase the price just for this deal?

  • +1

Firedragon can u pls include the actual flyer that states buy 1 get 1 free
without this you will not get the deal from red rooster

    • Thanks yep updated now :)

  • My boss would not let us eat at red rooster as they cook chicken and fish in the same fryer for a place that was built on chicken.. So we were only allowed KFC as maccas did the same if we brought it back to work.. He was a nutter..

    • +14

You let your boss decide where you eat?

    • +2

I used to work at KFC and we fried chicken nuggets, popcorn chicken and chips in the same oil. :)

    • +1

I used to work at maccas and the fish doesn't get cooked in the same vat as the chicken and apple pies, possibly the worst cross contamination is when they filter the vats using a filter box one vat at a time but that should be going in an the order of apple pies, chicken and they filter the fish vat last.

    • It shouldn't be in the same fryer, the policy and procedures state that fish MUST be cooked in a separate fryer than the other food products.

      Jewish? (Serious question)

  • Expires this Friday.

Excuse my language, but red rooster is shit!

  • Has anyone tried this? I love local flathead but the Argentinan stuff looks nasty at the shops so I don't buy it. I imagine this would be imported fish…

    • +3

I'm getting it tonight, well get back to you.

    • Had it a few times. It's not up the standard of some proper beer-battered, fish and chip shop but when you're hungry and vaguely in the mood for some seafood, it'll do. They can sometimes be a bit stingy with the fillets and give you too much fries in my experience.

Would it not be easier and better to go to a real fish and chip shop instead of eating this crap?

    • +3

Completely agree… but have you seen the price of Fish & Chips at a local shops lately?

      • Yep $8 :p

        • Ha, wow. I'm living in the wrong suburb then :)

        • You're getting ripped off I can get cod & chips for $6.50 at my local fish n chippery. More for expensive fish. Snapper and chips is $8.

  • Anyone know exactly what fish they use in this?

    • +1

      as mentioned earlier Flathead

    • +1

lol wrote something But I thought' I know I will look at there menu…

      Its "South American Flathead Fish"

      • Thanks for that. You might as well get a decent piece of snapper and chips for $10 then IMO.

As I said go to a real fish and chip shop and get the fish "Hake", much nicer.

    • HAKE = SHARK

      • +1

No, definately not. Hake is a fish. Perhaps you are confusing the word with flake, which does mean shark.

    • "Hake" will always be known as "Hoki" to my NZ-born ears. It's the most common fish supplied in NZ Fish 'n Chip shops :)

      • Hake and Hoki are two very different breeds of fish, please dont confuse the two.
Hake is a popular NZ fish :D I dont like Hoki that much, it has a strange taste and smell to it.
Unfortunately fish and chip shops use Hoki because it is cheap, cheaper than Hake.

        • Hoki is a type of Hake or Blue Hake

  • Fantastic!

I miss being a 90's kid.. Massive parcel of fish n chips, sea shantys, fish cakes, crab sticks for around the same price from my local, pie n drink for less than 5 bucks, big bags of mixed lollies for $2 then John Howard came in and took it all away with his GST :(

    • +1

      It is called inflation

  • Pie and can of coke used to be $2, and that was in the 00's. Pie and coke is still less than $5 from my local pie shop. Yeah seafood basket with can of coke is $12 from my local fish and chip shop, not $9.

    • In the 1990's….Petrol used to be 50c instead of 150c and people were still complaining it was expensive… LOL!

But hmmm…. Fish at a Chicken place… its almost as bad as going to Coles to shop for asian groceries.

  • so do i jsut print this voucher?

How bigs the piece of fish out of interest. Is it teeny or decent size. Could try it theres one close by

    • +2

I got 3 fish in each pack. Small pieces. Definietly amaller than the photo given. both packs combined is about as much as you'd get from a fish and chips store for $10ish i'd say. But its been a while since i've been

  • +1

tried it out just now. It wasn't bad. I would never consider buying it at full price though, not nearly enough
