You probably will want to cancel the Gold Membership after you have "purchased" the second audiobook. During the online cancellation process, Audible.com will ask you for a reason. Select "membership too expensive for me" and Audible.com might offer you a $20 coupon to stay. Accept the coupon, spend it, and cancel your membership again. It worked for me last time.
