  • Does it require cc?

    • i think yes

  • These deals invariably require one to leave CREDIT or DEBIT details and rely heavily on the customer forgetting to terminate before the sixty day trial deadline.

    • You could use an (empty) prepaid credit card, or use a service such as bancore.com

  • is there any difference from getting 2 audio books on a 1 month free trial?

I signed up for one of these deals a year or so ago and now I am addicted to the thing. I download the audiobooks onto my iPhone and listen to them on BT streaming whenever I am driving to/from work. So much better than listening to the radio with the same 10 songs on loop across all the different channels interrupted only by a few D list celebs trying desperately to be both politically correct and funny and failing dismally at both!

I was skeptical when I signed up a year and a bit ago and thought I would just get a couple of cheap/free books and then cancel. I've found myself going through entire book series like M&M's. I listened to the whole Game of Thrones series late last year. Listened to Ender's Game a couple of weeks ago, all of the Dragon Tattoo books before that and now I am into a zombie series called 'the infected' by a guy called D.J. Molles.

Rather than cancel I have found myself actually paying for more books because I need the 2nd/3rd book in the series and my monthly credit isn't due for another 3 weeks etc. I am one of those people that always wanted to read a certain book but never had the time to sit down and read. Now I am ploughing through the books like they are Doritos. P.s. I have no affiliation with these guys, just a fanboy. Downpour is their major competitor I think.

Audible has the Walter Mitty book for free at the moment I think, all you have to do is create an account and download. Audible is also owned by Amazon so I think you can log in with an Amazon account as well.

    • I'm exactly the same. Waiting on the next zombie book by Molles, the narrator Christian Rummel is now the benchmark for me.

I received an email last week saying the Australian audible store is now online. Books are in AUD and they are offering first 3 months at $7.50 if I transfer from the US store. I'm hesitating on restricted content and possible Australia tax. Haven't investigated it yet.
