  • Good find considering that it comes with a monitor as well, although I don't think the graphics card is quite as good as the R9 270 in the previous deal. I got that xps 8700 and am loving it, although windows 8.1 takes a lot of getting used to.

I wonder if there are any RACV/RACQ discount coupons?

    • the vga needs to go but the PC is well priced even taking that into account

budget say $250 for a medium vga and you got an awesome machine

could you build for less? i wouldnt think much less?

      • I think the previous deal came out slightly cheaper than if you were to build it yourself. I suspect that you're right for this deal, I think you could probably build for slightly less but not a lot less. You would probably have to get a non dell monitor though (I got a Benq GL2450 for $160). I'm a bit of a noob so I don't want to attempt to list the components/prices because I know I'll get it wrong, perhaps someone else who knows a bit more can.

        • that old deal is spectacular and who needs a screen when theres so many for sale

one problem i have is that Dell only have 1yr warranty on the lot while homebuilt ones have 3yrs on cpu vga and hdd etc

this is important because if the cpu goes bang 13 months later you'll be having a harsh conversation with captain india and none of those high end components is cheap

i wonder how much dell charge for warranty extensions

  • Last deal was better. It has a bigger hard drive, ssd and bluray. And most of all, a bigger graphics card. This one has more ram (maybe to much?) And a fixed monitor but people updating will probably keep their old one or buy the one that they want.

    • Too much ram? no such thing!

    • actually, last deal had more RAM, 16 GB c.f. 12 GB. Source: I bought and am using it right now. I don't think i've ever used more than 8 GB though

    I7 4770 = $355
    AsRock H87M-PRO4 = $105
    WD Black SATA3 1TB = $92
    8G RAM 1600 = $100
    1G GTX 650 =114
    Generic DVD = $20
    Case + PSU = $92
    OEM 64 bit MS Windows8.1 = $112
    KB + Mouse = $20
    24” 5ms = $172

    = $1182 (prices from msy)

Add 4GB extra RAM to make a total of 12GB, add assembly charges, consider wireless KB+Mouse price and you will easily hit more than $1198. Not that it is important but it will give a fair comparison with MSY.

Besides, MSY quotation is not shipped and warranty will be provided by parts manufacturer. You will only deal with Dell for warranty. Overall, imho Dell deal is better than MSY.

not sure how 12gb runs dual channel like the dell deal states so i went with 8gb which is fine for most people.

Satisfaction of building it yourself = priceless. KB + mouse is wireless, MS 800 is only $20 & comes with batteries!

Personally i would prefer to get the parts and do it myself but i understand why other would not.

        • I will also prefer DIY but I think not everyone will be comfortable with that option.

  • +1 for the decent all inclusive package however the GPU is poor. They should have an option of having the system without GPU for 100 less. Heck the card is on the same level as my laptop card which I got for $699 which includes an decent cpu 15 inch HD screen etc. Can anyone find a voucher code which would make this an A+ deal?

  • +1

The GT 645 is a total waste on this system? why would anyone buy a 645 when they already have a HD4600 built in?

You will get $50 tops if you CAN sell this gpu.

Dell is just wasting $100 - $150 of your money OR wasting your time (if you try to sell it on eblow or gumnuts whatever), or treating you like an idiot. Dance monkeys dance, and then buy this system with this gpu.

Please Dell, try a little harder !
