  • link to actual product? not sure if its this one http://www.meritline.com/10000mah-external-battery-charger-f…

if it is, that looks mighty small for 10,000mah and with the well known overstating of capacities a lot of asian seller use id be reluctant to take the risk.

edit: i was looking at this http://images.meritline.com/images/product/0/0/4/2/8/full/00… which made it look small. then saw http://images.meritline.com/images/product/0/0/4/2/8/full/00… which dosnt look so small any more.

There's actually a store (or used to be anyway) in Surfers Paradise called "OK Gift Shop". Not really selling it…

    • +2

excellent! this will go perfect with my Almost 2000 smartphone and Barely T3 car power adapter, so you could say my 3 devices are Almost Barely Sufficient for mobile use…

      • +1

You should also sign up for that SIM only plan with 'Sometimes Mobile', I hear their 4G reception is "kind of satisfactory"

      • How any charges of which device does it do ?

        • i forget exactly, i did check it when i first got it more thoroughly and was impressed and think the claims are genuine. galaxy note i think i was getting 3 or4 full charges while the fone was still on. im pretty sure there was otehrs similar opinions on them in the deals for them (i think theres been 2 now)

        • That's pretty respectable then. I'll look into it. Can never have enough batteries….

Yeah i hate the ungrateful nature of some people on here and those seem to be the really lazy ones that expect you to do everything And have never posted anything themselves.

Thankfully most ozbargainers aren't actually like that. I actually appreciated it so thanks

if anybody is concerned about the quality imo the best thing to do is buy the bare batteries yourself and get a casing that you want.

All these units generally have "18650" batteries inside - 1,2,3 or 4

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Sanyo-Li-lion-3-7V-18650-1865…

Sanyo and panasonic make the best 18650 cells
generic ones you can buy for around $2each

A casing to hold 4x batteries costs around $10

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Output-5V-1A-Mobile-Power-Supply-…
theres a lot of different casings around if you want it to look different.

So if you assemble your own it should only cost you $18 - obviously they wont be as good as the sanyo cell ones which would cost you around $38.
You can get casings to hold only 2 cells if you want some more portability.
Normally 1 cell gives you 1 full charge for a mobile phone if you're using the sanyo cells. A comment below says one this size using the cheap generic batteries (using 4 cells?) only charges a phone 2x - so half as good? - Im not sure myself as I only have sanyo 18650 batteries.

        • You say they cost $2 but the one you linked is $6.

        • +1

the one I linked is sanyo batteries (highest quality)

if you want low quality =
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ultrafire-18650-3200mAh-3-7V-Rech…

but expect it to be junk (eg around half the power)
and obviously fire/leak hazard even though Im not one of those people to worry about such things.

all the "cheap" power banks you see around would have varying degrees of these cheap quality cells in them.
The only way to be sure that you're getting quality cells is to buy a international branded one (sony/varta etc) or as I said - build it yourself.

edit: one last thing - if you build your own - another benefit is if the cells die you can easily replace them
the one above could be soldered in which doesnt make it impossible - just more difficult.

        • Thank you

        • Is there any reason why I shouldn't use eneloops in that casing? (I guess I'm assuming the 18650 batteries are AA size)

caus 18650's arent AA size would be my guess :)

  • I purchased one about a year ago for $35 off ebay. The only downfall is that it is bulky and heavy to travel with, although that is the price to pay for the extra battery capacity. I have found it will charge my S3 about twice now.

Quote from Website ( LOL )
The battery seems to work OK, although time will tell whether it was a good purchase. It really deserves more than 3-stars but I was really annoyed that Meritline failed to send a Chinese translator to help me read the User Manual. Products sold in the US should ALWAYS come with a manual in English.
