Universal 11000mAh Power Bank, $35 Delivered from Kogan

100

This is the lowest price for this item I've seen. Regular is $59, was on special for $49 and $42 in recent weeks. Now $35.

Price is quite close to the Ebay el-cheapos. But Kogan has a reputation to lose, so I would hope their battery pack delivers as promised. Also they give a 1 year warranty with seems to include free pick-up/return - they should not want to sell duds.

Description from their website:

Never run out of battery on your tablet, smartphone or USB-powered device with the Universal 11000mAh Power Bank.

Batteries today cannot keep up with heavy usage. Phones, tablets and other devices often fall victim to short battery life, leaving you frustrated with a useless device!

Recharge your smartphone 3.5+ times before needing to recharge your powerbank! *

The Kogan Universal 11000mAh Power Bank lets you recharge your devices on the go. The durable construction and compact design allows you to take the power bank wherever you travel. Dual 1A and 2.1A output allows you to charge multiple power-intensive devices at the same time.

But Kogan has a reputation to lose, … they should not want to sell duds.

Hahahahaha … I thought you were serious for a moment there. Nearly wet myself.

Any comparison(quality) with Sony powerbank @ JBHIFI's deal few months before??

    • It means the powerbank has enough juice to charge your smartphone 3.5 times

you can go from flat to charged to flat again to charged to flat and charged again before you need to charge the power bank… in other words 3 full charges

    • +1

Average phone is around 2300mAh, so should be able to get 3 full charges from the powerbank before it needs topping up. As usual, the 11000 mAh claim is dubious at best.

The small print is quite detailed. Based on 2100mAh battery of a smartphone. So they promise 7350mAh usable capacity at 5V. That would be 90% efficiency of their 11000mAh at 3.7V. Not too bad.

      • Smartphone battery is also 3.7v. So its really only 70% efficiency

  • Dimensions 171 x 75 x 24 mm
Weight 349 g (the important one)

vs 7400mAh Aldi Tevion ($29.99 when available) -
    Dimensions: 105 x 85 x 24.4 mm
    Weight: 240 g

    • The big question: is the Aldi 7400mAh @5V - in that case it would be virtually the same as the Kogan, or is it @3.7V as well, in that case the extra weight would be directly proportional to the extra energy content.

I bought the Aldi one, the first one had a misaligned mini (or was it micro for the charging port), so can't charge it. The replacement started charging, then about 5 minutes later the led turn off and it was dead dead.

Not one of Aldi's finer products.

  • Bummer, they just upped the price to $45. It would seem more people ordered than +'ed this post…

I bought one of this on ebay, claimed 50,000 mAh, so far it is working fine, just got it today and it seem to charged up my phone quickly using the 5V, 2.1A usb connector. For $26.99, I am pretty happy until it may explode one day.

    • from the feedback on that item….

BAD This item is marked as 50000mah, when tested was below 10000mah - BAD SELLER

sadly a lot of ebay items are far over stated. i got some AA rechargeable from there which were advertised as 2000mah and they only tested up as 300… definitely buyer be ware when it comes to this sort of thing

      • Ya, chinese seller are pretty bad in over rated their products, but for $26.99, if it got 10,000mah, think is still ok. Bought a torchlight previously from the chinese seller, rated 3,800 lumens, actual is more like 300 lumens.

  • Yep. Got one. Deal still on.

  • Thx got 1

  • I bought one on the begining of November with original price $59. It has been sent to AUpost NSW just 3 days. For me, it's do very good job. The only bad thing is I can' t recharge my iPhone 5S with this PowerBank cable but with the original 5S cable can plug to this PowerBank and it works fine. I think with just $35, you can't deny it.

  • I would be very careful with power banks like these. There is a reason why it is the same price as one that is only ~2000mA of more reputable brands. My recent trip to Hong Kong has seen heaps of 10000mA for around AU$15 and most people wouldn't touch those with a 10m pole. With power banks which is basically a rechargeable battery inside a housing you have to consider the longevity of the battery. You can draw parallels with the regular AA batteries and why duracell and energizer cost that much more than random ones from the local $2 shop.

    • Like all cheapo powerbanks they prolly use unprotected 18650 Li-ion ultrafire batteries in these units which can pose to be a HUGE safety hazard as they may explode if charging current+temperature is not keep under control (especially so with the summer heat atm).

      So caveat emptor!
