Finally somewhere to put my torches and eneloops.

    • You can afford 35734 boxes? Wow.

    • And add to that disappointingly unable to pricematch at officeworks

  • Weren't these $28 for 5x tubs & $6 for 1x tub before? So they changed it…not as good now. I was just about to pick some up in the next few days.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle for $28 for 4 (don't need 10).

Yes, 5 for $28 was the usual price a few months ago. No special deal here.

      • Pretty sure that deal was for 9L or 10L size. Not sure what brand this one is. I usually prefer the Aussie-made Starmaid.

        • Where can you buy the Starmaid ones?

          Thanks

        • I'm more than "pretty sure" it wasn't. I've twice bought these containers from Officeworks for the price I indicated - the last time about 6 weeks ago. The issue was also discussed on this website for the fools who negged my comments.

If you cant find them cheaper currently, then it definately is a bargain

If we're going to use that criterion then Ozbargain will be awash with everyday prices.

  • Quality of container was not so good, quite a number of lids were already broken in store. Probably ok for $6-7, but not for any more.

    • So the plastic is 'thin' & grade is bad?

  • Hmm…contemplating to buy 10…but dont know what for lol

  • Yep I have some at home. Bought it when it used to be $5.97 or something. Great value. Good for light weight stuff, like soft toys or ski gear - things you wouldn't access too commonly. The lid & lock design is poor, so it breaks easily, Bunning's one thats like $8.50+ or so is much better, made in Australia too - Ive actually stored and moved tools across from QLD to WA and it didnt break during transit - amazing or just lucky.

  • It should be noted that free delivery only applies in metro area.

Not that it really matters with these, as the quality is poor , always a pile of broken ones at the local store.

  • How do these compare to the SCA ones ?

  • Wait for the 52L Starmaid brand to go on sale. Much better quality.

There is a huge difference in the quality of these type of boxes. The cheap/nasty ones are to be avoided, since the material is brittle and breaks as soon as you look at it.

If there are lids already broken in the store, I'd run away from this one. These need to be able to withstand a decent flex without cracking. Much as I hate the nanny state thing, I believe there should be guidelines to protect consumers and teh environment from crap products (like I guess these are from geewhiz's comment).

Before you buy, ask how much can be stored in them. If you buy them and they break too easily, take them back and demand a refund due to being "not fit for purpose". Its the only way to stop places selling crap. I know these may be "cheap" but I'd prefer a $10 box that lasted for years than a $6 box that breaks first time you lift it up.

    • Yes there was always a few cracked boxes and lids on the pallet of these outside Officeworks when I bought them (both times). HOWEVER - the ten we own have worked perfectly for us. They're strong enough and do the job. The quality is NOT poor in our experience.
