  • Great price. Just ordered.

Free same day delivery to Metro if ordered before 11:30am is also a nice touch.

  • Are these active noise cancelling?

  • are the caps at the end plain like in the photo or does it have the word SOL on it

    • Has SOL on it, not plain like the picture. I just bought one in-store.

Blue is sold out too :(

  • Would anyone recommend these over the HD439?

The HD439 are cheaper too… and from looking at reviews, there are quite a few for the HD439 but not too many for the Sol Republic Master tacks…

  • Saw these the other day at my local officeworks but then didnt end up buying it cause I wasnt sure it was good or not. Then I saw this post and had a look at the amazon reviews and went out to buy the last one! Thanks for giving me the last push to get it haha

    • if you went to Clarence st then i got the second to last!

    • Hahahahaha?,….would you please be helpful, and tell us what they are like thanks.

      • They are great! The best headphones I've ever listened to.

  • Got a pair today. Thanks OP! I just hope ATH-M50s don't go on sale soon. Thou if they do I'll buy a pair of those also!

    • if you are going to do that, might as well buy one at the next price point. i have the ath m50, so i dont think that i will get much benefit out of these

  • Grabbed a pair. Great price. Why so cheap though? Are they grey imported like their Beats headphones?

  • Bought… good sound and good deal!
Loads available in Dee Why this morning at 11am, in blue, grey and white

  • Just ordered a pair, should be a great replacement for my 4 year old Denon AH-D1000 headphones which recently lost sound in the right ear. Thanks OP.

Picked up a set yesterday 4PM at Punchbowl Officeworks! They said they had three left after I left with one.

I have to say that after listening to them (after ~3 hours burn in) the audio performance is really disappointing. The bass sounds obese rather than awesome, with the drivers underlining and flooding the mids and high with muffled 'bloomphs'. The mids and highs themselves do come through very clearly I must admit, but with none of that liquid goodness that great cans exude. Guitar licks sound lame and vocals are flat instead of musical. The soundstage is limited and overall music does indeed sound 'lame' instead of exciting.

Strangely enough, I think in a different line, with different balance, these may have been nice studio monitors. Like I said, mids and highs come through quite clearly and for editing purposes, the clinical-sounding nature of these cans wouldn't be much of a problem. Unfortunately, the fat and ugly bass along with obviously DJ/hip/Beats by Dre styling show that studio monitoring was never on the table.

One last note is that the build of these headphones is definitely one of it's strong points. The band, which may be a bit love-it-or-hate-it, manages to be both utilitarian and stylish. The padding on the cans is super comfy-mushy while still sitting flush with the sides of your head for good isolation. Adjusting the cans up and down is literally just a matter of sliding them up and down- no knobs, graduated steps, clasps or anything. The band, cans and cable are all separately replaceable and removable.

I would rate it 7/10 for a $98 pair of over-ear headphones. For audio quality alone at $200, it would get no higher than a 5/10.

Picked a pair up from Castle HIll yesterday, lady said there were 2 left.

For $98 I wasn't expecting much, I gave the XC a shot at JB and they were rather comfortable so I figured why not.

Haven't had much time to test these out, but after a quick audition I found the bass quite muddy and unresponsive. Mids and Highs are flat. I must say I much prefer my UE TF10 but lets give these headphones the benefit of the doubt as they've yet to have any burn in. I've read that these perform much better after ~100 hours or so of burn in.

On the better note, built quality is superb and the padding on these cans are extremely comfortable which is what I was after for those days where I want to just chill and not have a pair of IEM jabbed into my ears. They do leak a little, unsure if they are suppose to be open or closed.

  • Thanks OP.. My partner grabbed a pair of the grey ones this morning..

For any one else interested, Southport QLD Office Works still has three pairs left.. Grey, White and Blue..
