Sea of Refurbished Dells.

Massive Updates on Dell DFO - Also 43 Units of Alienware Laptops from AUD999.
They just updated it at 7pm just now.

Enjoy!

Edit: As there are lots of them, please research before you locked in a laptop/desktop. Some are bargains, some might not be. Buyers beware please. Don't give Dell an impression that whatever they put as refurbished, it will be sold. Last few months, I observed that prices have been increasing for refurbished Alienware 17s and 18s.

  • Alienware 14 from $1,249 (i7-4700MQ, 16GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 765M, 14.0" FHD)
  • Alienware 17 from $1,799 (i7-4700MQ, 16GB RAM, 1.5TB HDD, GeForce GTX 770M, 17.3" FHD)
  • Alienware 18 $2,499 ( i7-4800MQ, 16GB RAM, 1.5TB HDD, GeForce GTX 770M SLI, 18.4" FHD)

Having more clarity in your post might help. Also, one does not simply ask for upvotes.

      • yeah! what is this Mordor or something

    • +7

      imo just stfu

  • +3

I think you need to be more specific on what is an actual bargain here?

  • +2

$1999 for 4th gen i7 + gtx780m are quite cheap. Last time I bought from dell outlet a refurbished alienware turns out brand new but with beat up box. Too bad I will have to wait one more months to be able to salary sacrifice another laptop

  • To be honest, I am only an expert for Alienware 17 and 18 prices. Price is still good but was better few months ago due the dfo website popularity…

    • If this freedom addict from wp? Nut cracker here :).

      • Lol I can't disclose. Anyway, the dfo is not used to be what's it like. Too popular. Maybe because of my whinging.

        • +1

Yeh haha. Good job posting here though :) you are commited! Make I ask if you ended up buying finally?

        • +1

          Nope….hoping for better price

        • +1

          Same here

        • Wonder posting here will make dell think their products are popular and hike the price again.

Here's hoping ozbargainers carefully buy their stuff

        • If you were hoping for a better price publicizing Dell outlet like this was a pretty dumb thing to do. The more people there are interested, the less Dell needs to discount to clear the refurbished stock.

        • +1

Ya I agree. However, Dell DFO has been posted in Ozbargain before.

Also, I am just repaying Ozbargain community's kindness by sharing this after reaping off benefits from the community for a while now.

  • +2

    lol, alienware.

    • why lol? care to elaborate?

      • +8

just the stigma behind them, overpriced, super fancy/ colourful lights etc, something a spoilt 14 year old would get.

then again i've been out of the laptop field for a while now, so i wouldn't really know. but i'd assume you could get decent asus gaming laptops cheaper. assume

        • Refurbished ones are good bargains. I wouldn't go for brand new.

        • +2

Agree but I'm sure all men would love their company to replace their hp/Lenovo notebook with this!

        • Ya they sure will stay back and "work"

        • +1

I own m17x and I am disagree with you. lol

yes, asus might be cheaper, but quality wise, alienware is much much better than asus G series. and their design is just crap though IMO.

        • asus G series is built like a tank, fantastic build quality and design is personal preference. In all honesty your post seems like a Mac fanboy trying to convince us why apple is better. There are plenty of better cheaper options out there for gaming.

  • XPS went quickly…they had a refurb for 510. Dammit!

    • Yeah I noticed that too…. Way to good a deal on that one.

    • +1

the XPS 13 is still there for $510

      • +1

        it's sold ;)

  • -2

Ya by the time I list one by one in the body, they would have already been gone and I will get negged.

    Hard to please…hard to please…

    • +1

      Well, I appreciated it =)

      • Thanks :) Too bad you didn't manage to get one. If not, that would be perfect.

      • Well, I appreciated it =)

Yet you didn't up vote this deal?

  • Where are these laptops for $999? I don't see any. :(

    • Look under Alienware and you'll see it in the list.

      • 650m is shit. No way I would pay 1k for a refurb with that card when Maxwell is in the verge oof coming out.

  • Damn, Alienware is so overpriced!

  • +1

I've dealt with Alienware hardware for quite a few years. They're flashy and look good. They're also one of the few laptops that will run games almost as well as a decent gaming rig. They are overpriced but these prices are pretty good. They have some quality issues, and people who run games on them for long periods (WOW players mainly) will cook them.

      • +1

2164 clicks… and yet the more you beg and whinge, the more negs you get :).

        • +1

At this rate you'll never level up.

        • Yeah mate now you're just asking for a ban.

      • +5

You are all sorts of annoying.

  • hi mate, how do u buy? do you have to call them up?
is the xps 13 sold out? should i bother calling?

    • You should call and at least get a customer number and the sales agent email so that the next time you see something good, you can email them rightaway and they can immediately book for you.

Time is essence to get refurbished dells….

    • Either call or online chat with them. You will also need to give them.the DFO number for them to check. If you were told that the item is no longer available within few seconds, hang up and retried with other operator. You should be on hold about 2-3 mins before they can confirm if it is still available. I experienced it previously. For some reason, the sales person may only get small commission for selling DFO stuff.

      • +1

I always email my sales agent and she email me back rightaway to say she will be checking.

Then after an hour or so, she will reply that I am too late

        • can you please share your sales agent's email?

        • Pm me please. I can't pm you

        • The fastest way is online chat and if not avail then.phone

I left dell about 6 months ago and I call tell you that products are of poor quality, with maybe an exception to the Alienware line. also note when you need a repair(and you will) they use refurbished parts from other faulty laptops to fix the problem. dell as a company is not very good in Australia but are quite good in the USA. they use a third party for their service and they have so many jobs to do in a day they normally rush the job and don't fix it properly. when I was working there I bought an xps latptop and had to get it repaired twice and on the the third fail I threw it out.

    • Hey, some questions for you if you don't mind.

Are the refurbished alienwares kept in Malaysia?
Is there a pool of refurbished alienwares shared by Asia?
Is their sales office in Malaysia as my sales agent is based there?

      Thanks :)

      Umm… dlakers3peat, careful mate.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defamation

      Big claims you've made there.
      Just sayin.

      • -1

Ya, I agree, trim the comment. Not worth it

      • +1

I have not defamed them. just an observation.

        • thanks dlakers, although i have to agree to some degree regarding quality over time, but business wise we have been with Dell for now coming to 13+ years and to be honest there are 3 of us in IT and only one of us has to deal with faults and were talking 300+ dell laptop and desktops (90% laptops)… its easy to put in a call have someone fix it and never see them again, it takes up a fraction of the guys time…

i think you see things from the other side where all the calls regarding faults come in… so it will always look pretty bleak form that end.. :)

      • Really? You quote and believe wikipedia on law? That is what I would be careful about - trusting wikipedia. Just gave me a smile. I mean it is great you are careful but after all Australia still has some free speech rights (although not sure how much longer in Queensland the way Campbell Newman is curtailing basic human and individual rights).
Here is a little hint: there are several defences to a claim of defamation, one (and the most obvious and important) being the truth.
As long as what you say is true, no-one can touch you.
But do not take my word for it - go to the library and read a standard text book on tort lawif you are interested in the topic.

    • OTOH I used to work (in IT) at a company with ~600 Dell PCs, LTs and servers and faults were fairly rare and usually repairs/parts were successfully made/swapped the next day. (We didn't care what the parts were because we just returned practically everything to the leasing company when the warranty ran out.)

    • In my long IT life I only see one laptop cannot power up at all, when just out of the box: Alienware!

      • try the new Toshiba C50 Series or Acer Aspire V571 Series

    • My time with the 17in Alienware was a nightmare. They have change motherboard and numerous repair but the damn thing won't accept SSD drive as primary bootup drive. I have returned this poorly designed product and have never dare to touch another Alienware again.

  • Not worth it price is overpriced compared to 1 month back 1099 for the one with 765m now they want 1249. Also Maxwell is coming

    • You think maxwell will push it further down? Look at the "M"s. Old s@&t but still pushing for same price as the ones without M.

  • sold out, that xps 13 was a great deal:/

  • Disappointed nothing with Quadro :(

    • Okay so there are some in the Precision Laptops however am I likely to be able to get one tomorrow morning? Is there a chat service open now?

  • Any thoughts on the x51?

    • Might be hard to upgrade later on…

If going for desktop, probably wait for refurbished Auroras ALX…

  • Just wish those wretched Latitude 10 inch tablets would stop clogging the business section already

  • Another XPS 13 Ultrabook up for $510. 1080p, 8gb ram..buy it so I'm not tempted!

    • Its the same one lol. They didn't remove the listing.

      • ..Derp, didn't think about how the listings work. Disregard that

        • Yeh the price is too good to be true unfortunately only x 1 quantity :(, I'd be all over that xps.

  • just called up to try and reserve, left my details but the warehouse isn't open so they can't check as yet

    • Call or email? I am surprised they are open so early to take call. GOod luck

    • hi boost, I take it you went for one of the Precision machines? I was told that someone else had just put in an order .. was just pipped at the post. Congrats to you :) .. ahh well, I save my coin for another day!

      • Might be other people. Many many people are going for refurbished.

      • I called at 8am on the dot to reserve but no deal!

        • Must have been ordered last night

Have an Alienware m17x R2, still going damn strong. 6 heatpipes in 2 heatsinks, my gaming laptop don't even come close to hot.

My HP DV6 typical on the other hand 2 heatpipe in 1 heatsink. Melted my plastic LAN table during one weekend with the boys.

I actually bought my Alienware brand new off ebay a while back for the sole purpose of gaming temperature.

I can only recommend the m17x and m18x for gaming temperatures, in my opinion the m14x is still pretty hot and doesn't cool as well, thus not worth the buy.

  • Latitude E6440 4th gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4300M Processor (2.6 GHz, 3M cache,8gb ram, 500gb SSD. ? $499. Not too bad.

    • Its a 500gb hybrid not a SSD. With that said, not bad for $499.

  • +1

Everything is now completely cleared out. Even the ones that were sitting there prior to the update yesterday at 7pm.

  • +1

    WIN!!! Huge relief… :D

Just got a call from dell confirming that i'd managed to get the Refurb XPS I was after

    DFO (REFURBISHED) XPS 12 Ultrabook
4th Generation Intel Core i7-4500U processor (4M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz)
    8GB DDR3L-RS 1600Mhz (On Board)
    256GB Solid State Drive
    Windows 8 English (64bit)
    Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth
    Intel HD Graphics 4400;
    Internal Backlit US International Keyboard
    50 WHr 6-Cell Battery
12.5 inch LED Backlit Touch Display
with Truelife and FHD resolution (1920 x 1080)
    1.52kg

Pretty sweet deal for $1099, considering normal retail $2099 (Special price $1599.
I guess I got lucky acting fast. There were 3 other XPS's for $1199 with the same specs on DFO yesterday. The extra $100 was for Windows 8.1 Pro instead of the normal one. All gone…in fact most of the laptops are gone…They're refreshing the stock on the website at the moment, that's why nothing showing.

Hope you guys got what you were after as well.

    • Much better than a Mac book air for similar $$. Well done
