  • Anyone know the quality of Kogan Agora tvs? Is it the same quality as Soniq/Hisense?

i have there non-smart 55" led/3d and im very happy with it. im assuming these are similar just with smart stuff onboard.

the menu systems are a bit crap (mines only really used on a HTPC so dosnt bother me) and the speakers on it are also a bit crap (again, its hooked to my yamaha HT so no issue for me)

i paid $799 delivered i think it was a year or so ago and for the money there was (and still isnt i dont think) anything comparable. for me there is no better option.

  • This is $100 off their normal price

I received an email from Paypal this morning and it said…:
Kogan - Free shipping on TVs when you enter this code at checkout: FREESHIP
(entered when you "View" your cart)

There might be T&C, but you may as well give it a go.

I just tested the code, and it appears to have worked. However I didn't follow the process right to the end though.

On Pre-sale Kogan had these for $699 + Plus Postage. On that alone this is not a deal.

There are a few horror stories about these TVs. I am not sure if there is a new firmware to address the crashing issues, you would hope so.

    I own this TV :O
Really happy with the picture and build quality. Only down side is that there can be a noticeable 'buzz' coming from the back of the TV. I'm guessing some capacitor whine. While sitting back on the couch is fine, being close to the TV is annoying.

The 3D works and does what it says on the tin. A previous 3D TV gave us massive eye strain and while I can still feel eye strain with this one, I can watch a full movie without getting a headache.
The "Smart" part of the TV uses a standard dual core to run android 4. I don't believe this can be updated. Being dual core means it's fine to run the apps that come with it, but anything like XBMC is a little painful to the point of unusable. But I'm surprised it ran it at all. So forget anything that requires a little bit of grunt. Overall, you're better buying a quad core mini TV stick for $60.

Remote control strength is just average. Not good but I've dealt with worse.

    4 HDMI ports is great.

Power efficiency is excellent. Runs just over 100watts. Considering an older 42" Plasma I owned ran at 350watts, you can notice the difference in a bill.

And with the new iOS7 update, it's waterproof. looks left and right

Thanks Sasquire, I just bought 2 for inside my pool (one for each end when swimming laps).

I bought 4 for camping, one for in the tent, one under the canopy, one behind the bbq and one to block the oceanviews.
