As a long time Vodafone customer i have to say i have watched the network improve, i am sure there are still areas where you will have issues, but then again every network has issues these days, I hope this post does not turn into a Vodafail comment competition, if you have issues with Vodafone then don't sign up… simple.

AND to Top it off:
Port your number from a Non-Vodafone carrier and get 2 months free. (clearly this offer is for New connects only, not customers upgrading)
So.. you could get double data and $130 ($65 plan) credit on your account if you port in.
Thats pretty good i reckon!
(Note: T's&C's on Website state: This offer is for customers who port their number from another carrier that does not use the Vodafone network. Customers who are porting in from Crazy Johns, Lebara and similar companies will not be eligible for this offer. Numbers which were previously active on Vodafone within the last 28 days will also not be eligible to receive this offer)

Edit: as at 12.40am EST, i noticed the website sometimes shows the offer and sometimes does not, i guess it must be launching today 5/3 and they are in process of updating the site with the offers

UPDATE:
Online: 4 months 1/2 price for new connections
In Stores: 2 months free for port in new connections.

  • Just a note you can use this in combination with the Student offer ($5/month off S4 Cat 4).
Should also be able to use the cashbacks above AFAIK.

    Good luck with its network

It's been great for me since vodafail! Dat 850mhz.
Also I seem to get crazy 4G speeds in the brisbane CBD, 95Mbps!

Late last year I tested optus vs vodafone, vodafone always had at least DOUBLE the 3g speeds than optus. Optus was often <300KB/s with 200ms+ ping, and vodafone was almost always over 700KB/s and less than 100ms ping.

I have 4g at my home now, I get around 20Mbps down (sometimes 30) and 30Mbps up, sure beats the hell out of my 9mbit ADSL with 0.8mbit upload…

The vodafone network is in a MUCH better state than optus in my honest opinion.

If you're rural though, you'll need telstra.

my home cable internet crashed other day, I tethered my laptop with my 5S on 4G to play a certain online game, I got less lag using the 4G than I was getting on my Cable…. and faster speeds too!

4G on Voda for the win!

  • I found it amusing when the OP said "Fastest 4G In Oz and pretty awesome coverage nowadays."
Vodafail is the worse, some people say their 3G are now faster, hmm…not really, that's because everyone has left their network which free up bandwidth.
Regardless of the price you'll regret using Vodafail network.

    • No regrets for me so far.. had more when I was on Telstra being raped every month when I got my bill and having sub standard 3G speeds

And as for your bandwidth comment:

20MHZ spectrum is why its faster.. nothing to do with users

  • Yep, there is a very good reason why over a million customers left Vodafone last year.

    • +1

Actually, according to official stats, 75% of those who left VF were disconnected old three or CJ's accounts.. #justsaying

      • Three customers were automatically migrated over to Vodafone, they didn't buy the company to disconnect the users they bought it for the users.

        • 385,000 customers had $0 plans on Three (first on three) who did not choose to migrate and as such were disconnected.
the rest were old Prepaid customers on three and CJ's

  • I have been a Vodafone customer since inception changed from Three
I am one of the lucky ones who has the $45 unlimited plan. Includes free video calls to mobiles.

I would never change. Just waiting for the Note 4 to hit the market in September. And yes the 4G is fantastic.

    • So how can u have 4G on a $45 plan?
Their website says 4G not available on old $45 infinite plans

Word over on Whirlpool is that from April 1 very old plans ($45 infinite etc) will not be eligible for discounted Handset repayment options, so I guess you will be buying it outright>

My sister is on old $50 infinite and when she went to resign last week they told her old plan the phone (iphone 5s) would be $36 per month ($864 total over 24m) so was pretty much retail price to keep her old plan.

  • Hi OP, where did you find the $50 Red business plan for $40? Doesn't appear to be on their website and the store I visited couldn't find this offer?

  • +1

    Vodafone is awesome lately.

Admittedly sux couple years back, but I persevered due to heavy discounts offered by their call center :P

Too bad I can't pull that "I'm having call drops etc" anymore now to get extra discounts lol

    justsaying

  • Yeah i noticed this awesome deal, my mum is just about to get a Galaxy Note 3 on a $65 plan. She doesn't really need the extra data though, she would prefer the 1/2 price for the 1st 4mths deal, but she's already with Vodafone.
Thanks for the heads up on the T&C's;- "numbers previously active on Vodafone within the last 28 days will also not be eligible".

Don't know if she's willing to hold off for 28 days, to port number out and then back in.

I was wondering though, it says "numbers previously active"… does that mean that you could port your number out, and then sign up for a new vodafone plan, with your same name, and get a new phone number, but then port your original number back in after 28 days, to replace the new number.
    Are you with me?
That way she could get the phone now, and then get her original number back in a month.
