  • Not too bad. The price for this from PCCG is $199.

  • Great price but I worry about the of chance that you need to return it

Amazon are usually pretty good with these type of things but I would always recommend doing a memtest test when they arrive

Also being Kingston they are unlikely to ever fail. I mostly usually use G Skill but I don't ever recall Kingston ram letting me down

Sad that this is a good price :(

Hey guys, i work at the eight mile plains QLD umart but our milton store have these kits for $199

    About 20 left in stock.

  • Anyone know when DDR4 will be available?

    • +2

Probably at least 12+ months away (maybe late this year) but it should impact your decision to buy. No way is ddr3 going to bottleneck your pc. The price won't be pretty on release either

      • should impact

        do you mean shouldn't impact?

I don't need memory now since I stocked up with 4x4GB. But I plan on replacing PC sometime soon, and going a bit over the top. Would hate to drop 1500$ on a board, CPU & ram only for DDR4 to come out the next month making it all old-hat. 'tis the curse of the tech world.

        • Yeah sorry. Shouldn't impact your decision

I should avoid replying on phones

I have a 2 year old sandy 2500k cpu, 1155 motherboard and 8gb of 1333 ram. I have upgraded to a 1150 haswell board, 16gb ram and still deciding on a cpu. Given my most intensive process is gaming it's really a worthless exercise. My old rig is more than capable and will be for years to come. I did it because I wanted a mini-itx setup. Besides that I'm just burning money.

So I ask what do you use your pc for? Are you even going to push the limits of DDR3 and current cpu's? Yeah it sucks buying something and new tech comes out but I could still be using 4-5 year tech with exception to a GPU for my needs.

I you need/want something newer now have you considered buying second hand? Some 2nd hand pc gear goes for peanuts on gumtree. Could go the 2nd route then upgrade after DDR4 and new cpu's come out.

        • I agree with you completely.

I have an Intel G2020 with(soon) 16Gb DDR3 1333 & a HD7850, all in a little box for gaming. But I am looking at virtualisation (at least 2xWindows & 2xCentOS), particularly with VT-d support, which basically means expensive everything :( Ultimately it's an expensive toy, but something I've wanted to play with for a while. As to ram, capacity may be more important than speed. It simply the principle of buying something soon to be last gen especially given the initial outlay.

        • I see your issue. If you are going to spend big bucks you probably want the option of it at least being upgradable for a while. Especially if going Intel. They have a terrible happen of changing sockets.

          happen

Habit? Is someone replying on their phone again :P

I remember purchasing 8GB of ram June 2012 and it was like $45. Was shocked when my brother went to get some last year and the price had doubled :/

  • I'm tempted to sell the 2nd hand 1333 G-Skill Ripjaws I just bought

Does anyone know the difference between the blue, black and red? The Kingston site is not very clear. I have no idea if it's a latency thing or just colour

    • scroll down on above amazon page , there is a table describing difference

      • That table does not even list the black and red. So it is no help to me

  • Does anyone know when this sale ends? I can't see an end date to it.

    • I'd say it already has ended because it's now $149.99 USD = $165 AUD + delivery. And Tiger Direct isn't shipping to Australia any how so an added expense of a freight forwarder is required. This deal has expired.

  • Well what do you know this deal is back on again in stock and available from seller Amazon.com again.
