  • Thanks, I have been using this for almost a year. I downloaded from the same location (Westpac Special Offer). Makes me wonder if this offer will expired ever.

"but decided to save the money since the world is in a recession."

But is the world (except Australia) in a recession because everyone isn't spending… :+)

    • lol , sorry mate we don't live in a vacuum, recession isn't something that just dropped on humanity from 3k feet from some being from another planet to cause us pain, it is in fact man-made ..if what your saying is better money-management skills are needed sure thing-nothing with that, but don't bunker down and think the sky is going to fall.

If you live in OZ interest rates have never been lower(thats for vehicles as well),employment is coming back, consumer confidence etc etc. There are many things to be positive about … just don't mention the deficit, something future generations will indeed still be paying off, but the alternative would have been worse, cheers

    • Yep, we can go on a shopping spree with the $900 and buy foreign goods…That'll boost the economy.
I'm sure anyone in 5 mins could think of 5 better solutions, on the other hand I'm sure the greater good wouldn't be appreciated by most.

Well the cheques were sent out, Rudd's approval rating apparently plummeted. You can draw a link or you could have spent the money on infrastructure and other job creating initiatives and dare I say it (cut taxes) and see what the voters think then?

  • just signed us all up, good deal thanks

  • how good is this AV software? is it as light as norton 2009? also how effective is it ?

    • +1

I've had the most success avoiding malware with Sensible Behaviour 2009. It's not for everyone (e.g. novelty screensaver addicts), but combine it with a router's NAT and you can do away with all these security suites.

  • Does anyone know what sort of system resources it uses?

I find that most AV software is just bloated and they normally put a handful of processes into the background which can significantly slow down the system. Especially when you are working and have multiple applications running.

Keen as if it doesn't use too many resources!

  • How does this compare to AVG free? I currently have a paid Nortons scanner as well but I used to use AVG when I only had freeware.

  • It doesn't even get a mention at AV Compartives - http://www.av-comparatives.org/comparativesreviews/main-test…

I personally use NAV 2009 which is IMO, the best Anti-virus solution out there. It's so lightweight it will genuinely surprise you, and the installer takes all of 15 seconds from start to finish with no restart required. It minds its own business, scans when idle and has some of the lowest amount of false-positives amongst other benefits. Check here for independent comparison - http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/stories/test/ondret/av…

    Free 90 day trial of NAV 2009 and 360 2009 - http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/sat4/ec_main.entry25?page=15…

    • yes i would say Norton has really hit the nail on the head with the 2009 edition. it is so light and smooth.

  • I would also be interested in how this compares to AVG Free Edition. Before i go to the effort of uninstalling AVG, and installing something new.

  • good deal, unfortunatly not compatible with mac….OOps, i want for my mac, can any1 help me with free antivirus..a good one plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • This offer is also featured in the current edition of PC user magazine. :)
