You can also beat the price by 10% at Masters. Would come down to $1466.

    • Only price match on appliances. .

      • +1

I think they have changed it back to include appliances again. No mention of them being excluded here and the offer of 10% price beat appears in the description of the same fridge here. Others have had success recently here, here and here.

  • Energy Use (p.a.) 602kWh

Doesn't tick one of my boxes.

    • fair point, however after looking at a number of models within the same Side by Side Fridges category they all seem to be around the 600 mark

Don't buy Samsung whitegoods. Terrible quality and after service is abysmal. Two experiences of my own and the other, a friend.

    • +1

I agree with this from a number of experiences.
Despite Samsung's being a darling of modern Korean industry, their appliances have poor longevity and fail quite early in life. A number of people around us report this.
One friend renovated his kitchen and outfitted it with Samsung appliances. The price seemed good and they came with, from memory, 2-year warranties. Just after two years, three of the appliances failed. The microwave oven failed completely and was not worth repairing.

The two-door Samsung icemaker fridge suffered a failure of the electronics in the door, and would no longer control its temperature. The fridge went into a fail-safe mode which took the freezer down to -18 degrees, maximum cold, and the fridge compartment also froze. A warranty call (good manufacturers will sometimes treat you sympathetically even out of warranty) revealed that Samsung fridges were represented by some kind of agent who had zero interest in the brand integrity, and who unsympathetically quoted $1,200 to replace the whole door including electronics on a $2,000 fridge.

When enough people report these experiences it will balance Samsung's expensive marketing and they will find this quality of product hard to sell the way they currently do. Anyone who wants to take a punt on unknown brands can simply try China ones. They are often inexpensive and, so far with whitegoods, we find they are not worse than Korean. China appliances are often unrefined and a bit noisy, but they seem to last acceptably well.

  • not bad just wish the freezer was down the bottom, i'm sick of our side by side.

  • +1 Samsung poor service on whitegoods. My mate bought a Sammy fridge very similar/identical to this one. One of the door shelves cracked within a week of install. At first he thought his kids had shut the door on an open drawer, but it turns out that isn't possible. Samsung wanted a bomb for the replacement shelf, even though it appears it was faulty from new.

The other stories here all go towards painting the same picture.
