Dick Smith - DS 40 Pack AA Batteries and DS 30 Pack AAA Batteries Only $9.98

80

Starts Saturday 1st of March until 2nd March. I have just been informed by a friend who works at DSE that they are throwing their 40 Pack of AAs and their 30 Pack of AAAs out the door for $9.98 a pack this weekend. First time posting but I'd say thats one of the best deals, seems better than the CotD Duracell batteries.

Anyway, hopefully you like the deal.

EDIT: Probably instore only however check the website tomorrow and see if its available with free shipping.

  • Why is it that AAA batteries are the same price or more expensive than AA batteries, when they contain less?

    • Same voltage in smaller size = more $$

I think it's because they are less popular than AAs them so they have lower economies of scale.

    • Miniaturisation. The manufacturing process is a bit more complex for an AAA as their narrow form factor makes inserting the zinc case, pouring the electrode mixture and fitting the caps harder, requiring some more specialised assembly lines. That cost is passed down on to you.

How do these compare to the Varta from Bunnings which sell for a similar price?

    • +1

      I want to know this.

    • +2

The Varta batteries are know to be good.

    • I'd stick to Varta.
DSE batteries in the past have been poor quality, prone to leaking caustic electrolyte.
