instead of posting every single items, can you just wrap them in one post?

Just curious, the branded counter part, e.g. Gigabyte, sells at $169 and this generic one sells at $134. What are the differences ?

It's kind of like home-brand at a supermarket in a way. Different manufacturer, not as well known as Gigabyte, less stuff in the box like dvi -> hdmi adapters, possibly a bit more of a runaround if you have to return the hardware to the manufacturer and occasionally a different fan.

Saying that, not necessarily a worse buy. When I bought my HD4850 I went the Gigabyte one over the MSI one and it came with a dud fan that was excessively noisy :(

Every single card on the market is based off a reference board or a reference model made by Nvidia themselves.
I can almost guarantee you that if you buy lets say 2 brands, a generic one and a branded one like Asus or Gigabyte and strip off their fans. Then compare the 2, it will be very very very similar, and sometimes even exactly the same.

There is some cases where the more expensive one uses a different board layout and a modified board, which gives better stability, speed etc. But nowadays with all the competition around, not many companies can keep up if they charge more for their work and effort to further enhance the original reference model.

Remember your gigabyte card could be made right next to the generic card in the same factory. (Same as LCD Screens). However with LCD Screens, its not what makes the panel determines the superiority, its what controls (Controller Board) the panel which determines the superiority.

With Graphics Cards cant really say the same, since the chip (Controller) comes from Nvidia, and the board and components (the LCD Screen) comes from the same factory.

The main difference though with generic and branded is one of the following:
      1. Bundled Software/Games (Sometimes no bundled software just driver CD on Generic)
      2. Warranty (Generic usually offers 1year, more expensive ones sometimes offer more)
      3. Bundled Plugs. (Generic ones usually only have the S-Video/Composite Plug, and sometimes DVI to VGA plug. Where as branded ones sometimes include DVI to HDMI adapters etc)
      4. Printed Manuals (Sometimes Generic comes with no printed manuals and soft copies of the manuals is on the CD as an Adobe Acrobat Format file)

Hope this helps you in understanding whats the difference between Generic and Branded.

some well-known cards can also overclock their cards (as is the case with the asus HD 4770) hence has better performance. Always do your research on tha interweb first before you buy, as sometimes even generic cards get reviewed by some sites too.

    • Thanks for the info guys

  • "Notes : Wow!", lol

  • Shipping?

I'm not going to create an account just to find out you use the same couriers as shippingsquire.

  • different brands/companies may use the reference design, but what you pay for is the quality of the components used on the board and the HSF used.
