Expensive? This is the cheapest price for a AC1800/1750 modem/router I've seen. You can get a TP-Link Archer C7 for $1 less but that's just a router, no modem. It would be great value if it was any good. However, I'm not sure this is the case, see comments here:
It's not a Broadcom chipset but most people buying a modem-router like this won't care to understand the difference.
I have used Belkin N600DB Modem Router and I have found it really good. It synced better than any other modems, I have even tried Billion 7800n but Belkin performance was much better.
I guess it depends a lot on the type of line and distance from the exchange etc. It's more trial and error to see which router syncs better with what location.
The good thing about this deal is if there are any problems you can always return it to TGG.
The 7800N is ancient (2010).

It depends more on the chipset inside the modem than it does on the quality of your line, up to a point. If your attenuation & SNR is off the charts than all the modems in the world wouldn't make a difference but if you've got a stable line and you're around 2 - 3km from the exchange, then that's where you'll see the difference between Broadcom hardware and non-Broadcom hardware, which is like light and day. (For example, I got a speed increase of 2.5Mbp/s with a Billion 7800VDOX compared to my old Belkin F1PI242egau. The attainable sync speed can be as high as 18Mbp/s on a good day, something I didn't even think was possible on my line given my distance from the exchange).
There is a new AC wireless updated modem router coming from billion in march. I'll wait for that one. Believe it will also be dual band.

It's the DS one, it was on the deal on oz last year or so.

Sorry for the typo. T&C
Seems expensive for something with no voip support, where is the modem's chipset?
