I managed syd-cambodia rtn for $412 within NSW Sept/Oct 2014 school holidays with the last Air-Asia sale. (This sale has it more expensive for those holidays)
Can't find anything decent melb - HCM for Dec/Jan…..will wait for the next sale…that is, when all the other airlines release their tix for that period as then AirAsia will have another flash sale - they always do….
How much are you usually paying for those tickets? My family has been paying over $1k each time and we found our tickets for $660 p/p including food, 30kg luggage and allocated seats. I think that's quite a bargain.
I usually consider it a 'bargain' when it's about $300 return. Went to Thailand for $300 return last easter with Scoot (not including baggage or seats).
A price of $300 is beautiful! However, we are going to visit family and Dec/Jan is the only convenient time for 5 where everyone is on a break/holiday. We're going for 7 weeks.
If I buy 5 tickets and not pick my seats, will the seats be located next to each other or at random?
Seats for you will be allocated when you get your boarding pass; online or at the check-in counter.
In my experience the seats will be next/near each other; if there is room.
Last time i flew with them the seat assignment was "random" i.e. not next to each other.
They really want you to pay for a seat.
last time traveling with a party of 3 (booked together), only 2 where assigned together during 'web checkin'. note there was room to put us all together, plenty (this was in Aug 13).
so the only way to guarantee the group is all sitting together, is to pay..

Depends on dates. But a quick look, cheapest i found was $435 return (without luggage) $229 there 209 back.
Cool. Got return flights to Phuket for $330. And it's in April school (Vic) holidays!
Cheers, I booked Gold Coast > Cambodia (Fly into Phnom Penh and out of Siem Reap) for $391pp. Could have been done for about $350 picking different days and coming back out of Phnom Penh.
