Need advice on PC build

Hey guys, its my first time building a PC. I will be mostly using it for editing some videos and also a bit of gaming. So, I heard there were a bunch of knowledgable users on here that might be able to give me advice. My budget is around $900. I've asked around and did some research, and this is the parts i've decided on getting.

CASE - Fractal Design Define R4 USB3.0 Mid Tower Case
CPU - AMD FX 8320
FAN - CM 212 EVO
MOTHERBOARD - MSI 990FXA-GD65
RAM - 8GB Kingmax 1600MHz
HDD - Seagate 2TB
SSD - Samsung SSD
PSU - Antec HCG-520W
GPU - Gigabye HD6780 (i already have, been given to me for free)

Wanted to know whether i've been doing this right(? haha) and that all the parts are actually compatible with each other and whether there was anything else I am missing.

FX is junk that runs hot and slurps power. Get an i5 and a B85/H87 board.

Why do people even buy AMD processors in this day and age?

AMD only makes sense for budget builds, and HTPCs.

For a general purpose and gaming build, go with i3 or i5.

    As far as gaming benchmarks and reviews go, Haswell and Ivy Bridge i5 series beat AMD's top end chips. Remember this review was done before the Haswells were introduced (published year 2012) so Haswells are not in the graph.
    
    The Fx8350 is priced at $195 dollars, which is very close to the pricing of a i5-4440 ($209). Since Intel has better IPC (instructions per clock), much better power efficiency, the Intel would make a better long term alternative.
    
    As far as core count goes, AMD has the upper hand but it has to make sacrifices in individual CPU core performance and power efficiency.
