IKEA couches are pretty solid and at $199 are a steal. I've been looking for used sofas on eBay and you'd be lucky to get something at $200.

Outstanding price for a new sofa.

  • Picture says Regular Price of $499 but actual product page says $399?

    • +4

      $399 is for the couch
      $99 is for the cover

And then there is $1 missing somewhere. ;)

    • Actually $499 includes the free cover worth $99

Except in WA/SA, where it is $499 without the cover.

Poor Ikea, according to their tax return they made almost zero profit in Australia last year. All that hard work for nothing.

Okea are masters in avoiding company tax. It's all going to shell companies in tax havens.

      • *According to the Tax Returns not many businesses make any profit in Aus :) it's only employees make profit and hence pay the tax for every single thing including the day care as you have to leave the kids in paid care while you are at work.

  • Delivery fee of $59 according to my local store page. Any cheaper method?

You mean they are not flat-packed?

I suggest buying a $5 length of conduit from Bunnings, and getting the complimentary loan-trailer. Stop off at Ikea on the way home.

  • How do u get the offer? Is there a voucher or do u just scan ur ikea family card?

    I sense great (back) pain.

Heck, even the arms on this thing look painful.

    • I was couch shopping 2 weeks ago and sat om it. Verdict =pretty average. You would need a few more cushions on it to be half way comfortable. $199 is about right… A bargain even - but its not for me.

      • no back support!

  • Let not forget about the delivery fee, … on top of my head.. 80 dollar?

    $199 + 80 ??

King delivery were the mob when I last did delivery and it was around $65 with horrible service. Better off renting a go get van from ikea.

Quick note - this couch feels like your sitting directly on wood, with a thin bed sheet stapled on top. $20 still wouldn't be a bargain for this. You'd end up losing money on the chiro/physio costs you'd be in for, after sitting on it for any length of time.

    • Ouch, sitting on a wood!

I agree - this couch looks great in the photos but pretty poor in reality. We went into Ikea a couple of weeks ago looking for a cheap couch. It was at the regular price then, but even at this price we wouldn't have bought it. You can see that after a short time it will look bedraggled and is not at all comfy.

Not sure if everyone received the same email but here is the screenshot of the email.

As for delivery, Airtasker or a Goget van might be a cheap option for those looking for delivery.

  • They've added the offer to the bottom of the IKEA homepage. Looks like you don't need to swipe your IKEA family card, just rock up and buy it.
