    Good one, thanks OP.

northbridge san churros told me that they no longer participate in this program.

    • They are on the list of participating stores. Maybe they are doing the dodgy.

Call head office if your in doubt

      • +12

yeah they probably were doing the dodgy.

shrugs if they cant be honest about promos then they cannot expect me to visit there as a patron anyway (which i used to do almost weekly)

        • +8

They've always been dodgy. The last three time I've been, they skimped out on strawberries/bananas and the custard on the desserts (leaving the glass just over half full). There's also been a couple of occasions where they've given me dessert that's been left out for too long (ice cream was melted, melted chocolate was rock hard).

I might not be the smartest ozbargainer paying $11.95 for dessert, but when I do pay that much, I expect it to be damn good.

        • I don't mind paying for quality food. Sure I'm a chum for paying $20 for a drink and dessert but it's ok. Don't treat me like a fool and try to shortchange me.

    • I ate there for my birthday last month with no problem.. When did you try this?

      • last october/november (missus and my birthday)

    • I had mine on Monday and they gave it to me

  • -1

There's going to be an awful lot of people 'celebrating'c their birthday tomorrow.

    • +7

you need to show ID with BD date to get the offer

      • Damn it, that's what I get for not reading thoroughly.

      • fake ID here i come! :p

        • +15

          fake IDs

      • What I have wondered is if it is possible to claim this offer multiple times at different stores? The code looks generic and when I showed it to them all they cared about was proof of my birthday and they just glanced at the San Churro email.

  • crap, it was my birthday last week :(

  • Slowest service I've ever had in an establishment in the last decade, drink was excessively oversweet despite asking for weak.
    Nope.

    • +6

Yep it's included there, not sure why it needs a new post here.

      • -1

Oops .. didn't realize it was their. Saw it on Facebook and posted it here for others to benefit from this great deal.

However, Ozbargain probably get hundreds, or even thousands of new signups per month so wouldn't harm a small tip for newcomers or reminder for current members

        • +1

It's also not new, so doesn't warrant an OZB deal listing, rather a forum post.

        • +1

So EC is this setting a precedent that we repost things off the birthday list every 6 months? Sounds sloppy. If it's that important shouldn't mods just make an announcement on the front page pointing to the whole wiki every once in awhile. Then it informs everyone of ALL the deals.

        • So EC is this setting a precedent that we repost things off the birthday list every 6 months?

It didn't get automatically detected as listed before because of the Facebook link. The other deal had the direct San Churo link

Nevertheless, its gained 35+ votes so far, so looks like their is some interest. If its bothering you, you could report it to a mod.

        • Just because it's in the wiki doesn't mean it can't be posted as a deal. Things from the wiki occasionally get posted as a deal over the past few years. Also, just because the deal isn't new doesn't mean it goes to the forum.

This is a bargain site not filling out tax forms. Let's not overcomplicate guidelines. If it's not in here, then it should be fine.

As for reminding people of the birthday list on the front page, good idea. We will start doing that regularly.

Happy Birthday for Tomorrow! Do you have someone to go with?

    • Happy birthday mate.. Dont forget to check out other deals as well..

  • +2

offer is emailed to customers 8 days before their birthday

My wife's birthday is in 7 days! :(

    • -2

accidently on purpose enter the wrong birthday, oops typo :P

  • +4

I signed up December last year 3 days before my birthday and in the welcome email it said:
"if your birthday falls within the next week we won't have time to send you the birthday email so just present this email instead" I did and claimed it on my birthday

  • +4

Not a deal. As mentioned above the wiki page covers this and a lot more; there's far too many to post to the main site.

  • Can you sign up 365 times ?

    • +1

      What about Leap Years?

      • +6

        That's jv's form of compassion.

  • Not sure why this is posted again, considering it's on the birthday deals page (which is where I went to suss out freebies for my birthday anyway)

In saying that, I took advantage of this last month. Free churros, who can complain

  • So when you get the voucher, how long is it valid for?

    • +1

I got the email and it says "Offer available on customer’s birthday, the day before birthday or day after birthday."

  • Seriously?
who would want to spend any part of their birthday at San Churos?

  • Woohoo Bday next Tues :D

  • Redeemed this last month. Fantastic churros though I personally did not like the dark chocolate sauce… a bit too bitter for me.

  • Just a question guys… for FREE lunch on birthday at Sumo Salad, Mex Club and Alibaba it says pickup card in store :

    http://www.sumosalad.com/category/sumo-society/about-sumo-so…
    http://mexclub.salsas.com.au/uprofile.py?Action=new
    http://www.alibaba.com.au/ultimate-rewards.html

Wondering if any purchase is required before asking for these card?
Reason for asking is one of my colleague didn't get the Rewards Card @ Alibaba (Macquarie Centre) and she was told to purchase something before it.

    • I asked to pick up a card at Ali Baba last year and they said you need to make a purchase before getting the card.
It is fair enough because when you receive the card, it already has a free wrap on it for your next visit and then one on your birthday.

      • yeah, but what about Mex Club and Sumo Salad any idea?

        • I have a sumo salad card and didn't need to make a purchase, another two are wok in a box and boost juice are free on your birthday :) nth ink you need the wok wallet and a boost vibe card though

        • larrcoult1234, I have a Sumo Salad card and my birthday is tomorrow. Do they send you an email with a voucher to get your free salad or do you just go to a store with your card and ask for it?

        • +1

Ohhh….so funny. I LITERALLY just got the email from Sumo now!

        • happy birthday :)
Did you have to make any purchase for the CARD?

        • @electricbluee: i have a sumo salad card, but didn't get an email on my birthday :S

  • Signed up, thanks for the tip guys

  • +1

I was born on a Wednesday so my birthday is every week.

    • +1

As long as it doesn't happen in the reverse too. Dying every week would really cut into my bargain hunting time.

  • Thanks - my REAL birthday is this Sunday!

DOH! Please note that the birthday churros offer is emailed to customers 8 days before their birthday.

    • +1

Sign up again with your fake birthday being 9 days ahead of today. You'll get the email tomorrow, which you then use on Sunday with your actual ID. You're welcome.

It's my girlfriends birthday today! Bitch better take me…

  • I got my offer year before last but not for the most recent birthday. mmmm wonder why.

  • +1

Happy Birthday everybody. No need to subscribe, just print this out and bring it in on your birthday:
    http://pdfcast.org/download/san-churro-birthday.pdf

  • this has been going on for years

  • I had to look up what a churro is. I'd never heard of them.

  • Oh, just to add - you get a free scoop (in a cone) of ice-cream at Baskin-Robbins each year on your birthday. It is valid for about a week after your birthday but you can only use it at the store you originally nominate when you join up.

  • Ive just joined as my birthday is next Friday 24th!! Never been to san churros

  • Hah, I guess it is a deal. Free main at the Lowenbrau (Sydney) also stands out as being pretty good; they cost around $30 normally and there's no purchase required.
